    A take on each:

SciFi - Farscape (piss off Firefly)

PostApo - Rifts (the RPG, not RIFT the MMO)

High Fantasy - Everquest (or probably an obscure book)

    Ancient Mtyh - Greco/Roman w/ Norse I suppose

    Medieval - not Autherian(sp)

Atlernate Reality - I think "The Secret World" did it pretty well

    Horror - World of Darkness

    Wild West - meh

Contemp. War - I think our real heroes do it well enough.

It's never really been done right imo (partly done right in some games) so despite all the generic shallow high fantasy games the people who like it have never really got their fix - player models, names, a few racial abilities and shallow lore isn't really what it's about.

Don't really care. The milieu/world is unimportant - just a paint job. Its the game what matters most.

I'll actually vote for High Fantasy.

My favourite would of course be Witcher, with Forgotten Realms coming, (Old, not 4th edition crap) followed right by Ancient Mythology (Norse or Celtic "tribal warfare") and my last choise would be Historical (Englaland settled by Germanic Tribes at 7th century)

Now, none of these are properly explored in any MMO what I know of. No, DAOC or some Ragnarok don't count, neither do DDO or Neverwinter. But as I've already expressed myself, I'd rather take a coop RPG (Neverwinter Nights? And I pray to both the old gods and the new that Witcher 3 gets coop...) than a "real MMO".

Of course I would welcome a real "hardcore" trip to Middle-Earth or ASOIAF, but sadly that won't happen...

We?re all dead, just say it.

I chose Wild West, not the accurate reality either..

I would love to see a mmorpg that is similar to the show Wild Wild West.. Such a game would have:
    • Unbelievable gadgets and disguises.. lol
    • No instant travel, you must ride using a stagecoach, horse or train..
    • No restrictive factions like (alliance vs horde).. A person's reputation is based on his actions only..
    • Character development is the main focus, not their "level"..  I want to see limited storage.. This also means food and drink requirements for not only the player themself, but rest for their mounts..
    • Some form of housing (instanced like EQ2 would be great)
    • Crafting would be a huge bonus.. I would even like the option to see people have shops  (Tailors, Blacksmiths, Cooks, etc etc)  This also means items that have limited lifespan, so they are replaced such as SWG..
    • A variety of races to play, each with racial bonsues such as Indian, Hispanic, Asian, etc..

Since the only sci-fi choice was space opera, I had to go with it, but I'd much prefer a hard-science sci-fi game instead of the ones that are essentially fantasy with a thin veneer of sci-fi draped over them.  I hate fantasy.  I don't want to look backwards, I want to look forwards.  I don't give a damn where we've been, I want to know where we're going.  But real, hard-core sci-fi is hard to do, it takes more effort than throwing around elves and dragons so that's what developers do.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more

    E.E. "Doc" Smith...heh.

Try coding Lensmen and Boskonians....just try.

The only problem is that once you get the Lensmen running around, they turn into problems like the Jedi.  Everyone wants to be one and they get very overpowered, very fast.
