*sigh* As I get deeper into new MMO's I always get that feeling of nostalgia for EQ. This video did not help: http://www.darrenmart.com/EQTribute.aspx . Yea, yea, I know it's a game, blah blah, but man did it have a ride, haha.

I miss EverQuest...the old companionship, the nights just talking underneath the trees in faydar drinking booze. Laughing at how no one can understand what they were saying. Rising up against a foe to bring another their weapon, armor, quest steed..and that final ding.

I miss this game but I will...never go back. The Luclin expansion cast a shadow that tore me forever from EverQuest.

Here is my final good bye, for...I will never look at another one of these movies. It was nice to have known you...Odein Frostbane.

Odein Frostbane. Dark Elf, ShadowKnight of the 40th season. '01-'02.

I might pick it up again, I dont know.

what i miss is EQ with verant. It was a much better place then before sony. Sony raised fees and made once free services cost you more then the game.

    Your joking, right?
I've been playing EQ since the release of Kunark (that was a Varent release) and I still play today.
My monthly fees have stayed the same or gone down (since I went to the one year plan vs the 6 month plan, my monthly pay to play fee is now $9.95)
CSR while it's hit or miss on quality, is more frequently available (in game and out of game)
Patches are actually starting to patch bugs and not just create new bugs
It was the Varent Dev team that told me to my face that no way would they ever go back and work on old content. Old content was old, new expansions was where it was at

I don't think SOE is a Godsend to EQ, but I certainly don't think they are any worse than Varent.
To say that SOE raised prices... let me see your price guides :)

My dog barks some. Mentally you picture my dog, but I have not told you the type of dog which I have. Perhaps you even picture Toto, from "The Wizard of Oz." But I warn you, my dog is always with me.

  • image I miss it too, and no, it's no longer there for those who *had*¨to move on because they were hooked to a game for 5 years image ...

i miss it as well. first mmorpg i ever played.

i quit when they raised the price from 9 95 to 12 95.

i was still in school and couldn't afford it anymore. i had just bought my first car. ahhh the memories

  • I will always look back at some of my years in Norath with fondness, but that was before SoE ripped the soul out of the game with horrible expansions such as Luclin and Gates of Discord.

The lack of quality control at SoE floors me to this day.  When I got my hands on WoW it made me realize even more that to play Everquest is essentially to pay $12.95 (now 14.95 I guess) to beta test their product.

While I enjoy going through some of my old screenshots from pre-kunark to early Velious, I wish I had quit when Luclin came out.  I am actually a bit surprised at how little I miss the game now.
