A big doubt about MMORPG.COM Top Voted Games

Guys I have a doubt, I usually check the MMORPG.COM Top Voted Games often, like to know what's going on.

But there, today for example, Rift is on 5th place... but how? I was playing Rift and it's empty, just some servers and none of them get High anymore... so how does this Top Voted works? It that trustable?

    The avg population for a MMO population is very low. This is why developers try hard to hide the stats in most MMOs.

    So.. let's say that this voting has nothing to do with the MMO's population or if it's going nice or bad right?

    Voting has nothing to do with population. It goes off player votes. It seems to be exploited a lot also as you will see games go from 8.5 to 7.7 in 1 days time. Its free to make accounts here and some people exploit the ranks for promote thier game. Just use the ranks as a list to see whats out there and coming. It means absolutely zilch.

    yea I don't even think Guild Wars 2 should be number 1..... The lack of customisation and lack of end-game is so bad...

    With an older game like Rift, the vast majority of the votes that averaged out to that high score would have been cast loooong ago, when the game was young. Not nearly so many people pop up and suddenly rate an old game.

    Well what's a better 5th or 6th place?  Besides Rift?  What would you put in 5th place and as an added challenge, 6th place (since I can only assume if Rift isnt good enough for 5th it may not be for 6th and 4th is right out.....).

     

    Honest questions.  I've never played Rift, but there's not a whole lot of really great mmos out.   I'm not really surprised it is where it's at on the votes.  But if you have better games you think are better suited for the slot I'd just be interested to see what people have to say.....
