LF: Crafting mmo with meaning

snoop101snoop101 Member UncommonPosts: 400

Well I left LOTRO just before F2P and now thinking it might be best to go back.

Is there any other MMO's out there right now that have crafting like LOTRO. I know Lotro doesent have the depth of crafting that others have, but I enjoy the fact that you can farm and cook. I find that vert interesting and different than other mmo's.

Other games with crafting that I enjoyed were ryzom, though the game itself just could not hold me in. I played Eve for over a year and though I enjoyed it lots I just dont want to be flying around again. I guess im looking for more of a fantasy setting on land. I loved Vanguards crafting, but with the server being so low population I couldent find the rest of the game enjoyable (though I loved it when it first came out). Perpetuum is another game I love and actually thinking to go back to it or lotro.

So with that said is there anything else that someone might recommend?

EQ2's crafting has long been my favorite.  They've nerfed it and made it easier over time, and I enjoyed it more in the early days, but it's nice, I suppose, not to lose mats on a failed attempt anymore.  Anyway....EQ2 is still my vote for most immersive crafting, but that's just me. (I don't think you can even fail attempts anymore, actually.)

Any meaningful crafting can be offered by EVE only.

LOTRO is 2nd best after EVE imo.

The only two games with crafting are EVE and Perpetuum.

Everything else is just a joke, especially if it's a BoP/BoE game where people eventually won't need what you're crafting anyways.

Age of Wushu all crafting professions count in this player driven economy. No level capped recipies or anything like that. You can play a crafter from begining to end if you like. If you don't want spaceships, I don't think you'll find anything better.

I think I may have missed a couple. On top of that these all have mini games. For example a calligrapher writes. It takes me about 2-3 minutes to make a highend record.

Keep an eye on Trials of Ascension as well, if it goes kickstarter then its crafting will be pretty epic o.o.

How is Final Fantasy XI for crafting? I was reading you can breed animals (was on the lf mmo forum post).

Will the UI piss me off though, cause I hear its really bad?

    EQ2's crafting was pretty good.
