This is the spaceship version of world of tanks basically..
Agreed. It's a fun lobby game with progression, much like World of Tanks. It seems like the space games (spaceship-based, specifically) run a scale with action on one and and diversity of gameplay on the other.
Star Conflict -- ACE Online -- Pirate Galaxy -- Vendetta Online -- Taikodom -- EVE Online
Vendetta Online seems to sit in the middle with both action and diversity in even amounts.
Sounds good. May be i will try it out.
Personally i like captial space ship combat more (like that in STO, not like that in Eve). But i will try a space fighter game too.

Lobby-based shooters... yawn. I've seen more depth in a saucer of water.

There is another hilarious/sarcastic one that gets you pumped about exploring different star sytems with rock music playing then shows ships getting destroyed at gate camps and the pilots getting podded. I can't seem to find it though.
These sound hilarious. Please post more links. rofl. I played Eve for a few months not long after it launched.

Vendetta Online is the one I've stuck with, in part because it has the 6 degrees of freedom sim-arcade goodness together with a single, persistent world:
I've also met the lead dev, and he is a righteous one.
I believe the Eve players here love their game, too.

It has changed rather a lot in the 9.5 years since then. Why not check it out again?
Oh I really enjoyed Eve. Reasons why I don't play:
1. don't like being forced to spend half my money (and using the other half to insure my ships)
2. The worst profanity I have ever seen on the internet.
3. only one of my friends would play (due to item 1).
4. The lag was really bad whenever I tried to group with just one other person. Not sure how Eve players did that 5,000 ship thing. Unless the lag was vastly improved.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon. In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
I don't think there's anyone here that can't say the same but come back and tell us if your game still interests you 10 years from now.
Vendetta Online account created June 2, 2003. Time spent online: 51 days, 20 hours, 50 minutes, 29 seconds.
I've been playing for 9 years and 9 months; I've found it (for myself) to be the most entertaining and most long-lived electronic experience yet.

I will not argue this but to say it's the most entertaining is either madness or it shows your depth of knowledge with past video games or perhaps you've forgotten what it was like (or are too young to remember) when Wolfenstein 3d first came out or Quake multiplayer or Wing Commander: Privateer.
So what do you think about this space drivin game, is this one more engaging than what EVE is, seems to be. plus a lot of skill with targeting as well. whats yourt take on it.
Engaging could mean a couple things.
Action looks a little faster, a little more intense and a little more twitch-oriented. In that sense, it's more engaging.
But it doesn't look like it would hold my interest for more than a month, maybe two before I moved on to something else. In that sense, it's not nearly as engaging as EVE.
Hazelle, entertaining is a word that is entirely subjective, but please enlighten me on how it's madness.

I don't think as an all round package their is a modern game as fun as eve.
I could make a case for a few games older than eve like ac, planetside, daoc & uo though.
Ps2 is fun if you just want pvp though.
Several games are fun for a few months but then get old, but if you just want to run a few dungeons and such they are fine such as tsw, rift and even wow.
Very different games. Can't really compare them nor is it fair to for either game.
Personally, I cannot stand Eve. I don't care for the combat gameplay in it at all. Doesn't mean it is a bad game. Even though I don't care for it I've always respected how CCP went for a different "feel" in so many areas of the game compared to your average mmo.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

1. You're not "forced" to spend anything. You might be glad to know that CCP have just completed a total rework of the T1 frigates and cruisers and they're now all useful. As in high SP players are using them unironically, not just for comedy fleets.
2. I think that depends who you group with.
3. Lag is massively better than it used to be. Basically don't worry about it until there are several hundred in system.

1. Wrong. New player joins Eve. Spends a month earning ISK to buy a ship. Ship explodes. Game over. Unless the player, instead, spent half that $ to buy a much weaker ship and the other half of that $ insuring it.
2. Wrong again. On the rare chance you bump into someone (by them entering the same solar system you are in), most often you pull up their dossier to guage the threat. Dossiers are littered with heinous profanity.

Not a fair comparison, for Star Conflict. EVE is a behemoth, sandbox MMORPG with huge fleet battles, detailed character customization/progression, and a single-server, non-instanced, massive universe.
Star Conflct is a lobby-based, instance-structured MMOG, with twitch action.
Two very different games with different approaches that just happen to have a sci-fi, spaceship setting. I hope Star Conflict can do 1/8 as well as EVE has and wish the development team the best. But EVE it is not.
Not sure what you call huge fleet battles. At one point I know they had trouble with the game and too many people trying to fight would crash the systems they were in. by too many I mean like what, 40 vs 40...
Even Online can handle like 8 vs 8, but you get too many people trying to fight and the system they were in would crash. Not sure exactly how many. Its possible since I last looked at the game they fixxed this to allow more people to fight against each other.
I know people weren't happy about losing there mega-ships due to system crashes.
========================== The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

And you appear to have missed it, given the context of the discussion was EVE not being fun.

As long as it is fun, who cares?
Vendetta Online is the one I've stuck with, in part because it has the 6 degrees of freedom sim-arcade goodness together with a single, persistent world:

I've played many games that, at the time, I found more fun than eve online.
I've watched a ton of movies and shows that were more fun than eve online.
There's a bunch of things I've done that, in my opinion, was more fun than eve online.
I don't think there's anyone here that can't say the same but come back and tell us if your game still interests you 10 years from now.

EvE is unique in a way. Its the only game that has tons upon tons of metagaming, yet the devs actually forgot to add a gameplay to go with it.
the day MicroSoft releases a sci-fi skin for Excel, its game over for CCP.
EVE is basically spreadsheets in space.
There's no denying that. But for some reason, I keep going back to it. Dammit, I love those spreadsheets!
You just named the reason why i don't play Eve.
If i want to play with spreadsheet, i play with the ones i use in work. They are more fun, and have real world impact.
