So were going to get 3 factions, they are going to be loosely based upon Celtic, Arthurian and Norse Mythology i guess? (TDD, Vikings and Camelot)

So it got me thinking, i see someone mention helms for the realms, a Stag helm for TDD, a winged helm for Norse and a knights helm for Camelot, yeah sounds good,

Would also like to see Norse in lots of Chain and Furs, TDD is leathers with greens and browns, long hoods etc, and Camelot in Shiny plate and tabards and plumed helms and what not.

As for weapons i would like to see big double headed axes and hammers for Norse, Longswords and Maces and Ball n Chains for Camelot and Rapiers and elvish type weapons for TDD.

These are but a few examples but i feel its important to be able to tell your enemy from a good distance just at a glance of their attire, it adds real depth and immersion imo.

There will likely be a similar set up as DAoC but with better graphics. In that, each realm had access to most weapon types with a few exceptions (Reavers' whips, etc) Armor differed in type, but all realms had the same tiers except for albion solely had plate-level armor.

As for identification, it was easy to tell what realm one was from just by the way they moved.

I am sure there will be even more visual differences between realms in CU, if what MJ is saying is any indication :)

I agree about more fur and chain for the Vikings and stuff. Just give me floral garlands I can gently rest upon them once my elf removes his rapier from their eyeballs. :P

For the Vikings, i agree too, chain and fur.

Also, check out this new tv show called....well what do you know ! "Vikings"

Wing helms for Vikings is silly.  Viking never used winged helms except in operas.

Well they did in fantasy. Which this is :) To be more precise, I am fairly certain that vikings never caused purple hammers of doom to fall from the sky or called lightning down to smite their foes, either.

I would love to see a very defined terrain range for each realm. Deep, haunting, lush forests that the TDD are waiting within to ambush unwary foes. Brutal, snowswept hills covered in the blood of those who would dare invade the Vikings' territory.

And gentle lakes with bland grassland for the silly Arthurians.

    Just kidding ;)

The further you went into an enemy realm, the terrain could affect RvR strategy more and more, and the visuals could impart a sense of knowing things are getting really chancy while imparting a sense of awe.

    That would rule.

Depends on how much grog they were drinking and what else they had in their grog to spirit them into battle.  Berserkers were based on lore of Viking warriors turning into bears via potions (more likely mushrooms) causing much death and destruction.  BTW, Call of Mjolnir's hammers are blue, not purple.  Now lightning has a long history in Norse mythology from the giants casting down lightning to destroy villages to Thor's Mjolnir (sp?) returning hammer of lightening bolts (cloud to cloud lightning).

Righto. I am fairly familiar with norse myths. Just saing mythological accuracy is more important in CU, imo. And Norse gods and goddesses have been depicted wearing them, so...

And yeah they were blue, but the rose tinted glasses I am wearing make them purple :)

    Solution:

Since artists borrowed the winged helmet from the Celts and plopped them on Vikings, let's just put them back on Celtic noggins :)

I really hope that the snow areas aren't as blinding as they were in DaoC. On the flipside, this would solve the stealth problem, just wear white and you would become an instant stealther!

I healed Mistwraith and all I got was this stupid tee-shirt!
