EQ2 Players and community

NaosNaos Member Posts: 379

I'm very impressed with the EQ2 community from what I have seen so far. they are very helpful, very funny and very mature ::::04::

I've yet to hear calls of "noob" or hear "pwned" or the usual crap from the spotty types and as I'm playing on Runnyeye and I wonder if this is this the norm ingame or have I just got lucky so far?

Maybe I was right in thinking that PvP mmorpgs just attract the worst types of gamers....

Any thoughts?

I agree totally Naos. At the moment I am enjoying EQIIs great community as well.

Also I have found the best communities can be found on the RP servers. This applies as much for EQII as for WoW. So if you are not happy with the community on the server you are on, try something different. image

I have always had good luck with the EQ 2 community on my server. Most are over eager to group and ready to play. I have run into a few self centered idiots, I ended up taking their group from them and just reforming which made everyone happy and we could get on with their day.

PvP draws some real mature players and alot ganking children as well, I think they have their good and bads just like everyone else. However, they are always going to get the "Haha, I killed your kind in UO cause you suck and I wanted to hear you cry" type that most gamers hate. in UO I spent my time hunting PK's just because I couldnt deal with the attitudes and idiocy of it. And yes I had a quite nice little head collection of those that tried to get a peice of me.

Overall I think pvp games probably draw more of the idiots but I will say they have some very sharp, smart, clever, and good people in them as well. PvP based games though have a natural appeal to those that enjoy pissing and upsetting others off however, I think thats why you get more there.

Yes agree. EQ2 has a far more mature community. Partly the reason I reactivated my account and left World of Warcraft.
But I hope new players dont think that the community is on the Isle. The DEMO is full of scum...

On the other hand I dont belive its the PvP thats pulls the "kids" to games. More the attitude of the game. EQ2 has an adult feel to and a more serious world. The customer support has been bumped up, and it seems the creators are starting to have fun now rather then stress when the game was first released.

I do hope, as many others do, PvP will come to EQ2. Or at least some form of it. In Freeport there is a coliseum but its marked as "closed". Would be nice if batteling with other players in there was posable, keeping it in "controlled" environment, maybe adding a 3rd one that would be open for all.
Also implementing PvP would increase EQ2 popularity.

IF SOE is planing a PvP system I think enabling battel in the coliseums would make players VERY happy while we wait.

I've had good luck with how polite and courteous people are, some very willing to go out of their way to help as well.

However, I am levelling up behind the rest of my guild (they're all higher than me), so I am having to do pick up groups on my own quite a bit.

I have found more and more pickup groups that are just horrific. I can kill greens and get 4% XP in about 15 minutes with no risk whatsoever. In the last group I had in Varsoons, we got 4% XP and 4% debt in the span of 45 minutes, with a healer and a tank. I left the group and went to solo the last 15% to get level 30.

Luckily at level 30 I got some cool stuff on my Necro, and was able to solo about 10 of the beginning Enchanted Lands quests. Took me only a few hours to get 31, and more importantly, I was getting great sellable loots, finishing quests for new items I could equip, exploring the first part of this new land on my own, and more importantly, having a blast.

Can't wait to catch up to my guildies so I have some competent people to group with.

Thats actually bad signs for a guild, they more in a hurry you are the faster everyone is gonna burn out on the game. You need to slow them down to your speed bro. Otherwise pretty soon they are gonna burn through the high end of the game and be bored and then we are gonna start hearing how there is no high end content cause everyone was in a hurry to get there.

That lead to Sony completely loading the topend of the game and trivializing levels 1-60.
