So, I have the station pass and have some "Q's" about PS

UthorUthor Member UncommonPosts: 13

I am already splitting my time between EQ2 and SWG, I dont see where adding PS to the mix will hurt. Here are a few questions that I have about PS...

1. What chance does a noob really have starting PS now, and what should I do gain xp (I guess there is xp) to be worth another peep taking the time to kill my lowbie A$$, haha!

2. Are there any good info sites about PS where I can learn some of the lingo and game mechanics?

3. If I DL the trial, can I just add PS straight to my station pass, or will i still need to actually buy the game?

Thanks for the help!!!

In the end, the only opinion that matters is mine...

    1. What chance does a noob really have starting PS now, and what should I do gain xp (I guess there is xp) to be worth another peep taking the time to kill my lowbie A$$, haha!

First of all, no matter what Battle Rank (BR, basically your level) someone might be, they still cannot do EVERYTHING. This means that with the FPS fighting you will basically always have a chance against your opponents, but that doesn't mean that he won't have more friends or a slightly bigger gun than you.

The amount of experience you get for killing someone, or someone killing you, is based upon how long they have been alive and how much of a threat they have been against your faction. So, you're worth just as much as a BR23 when you are BR5 if you both just spawned, or have been alive for an hour and each killed 40 other players.

Gaining experience is best done with a squad, coordinating an attack onto a base and holding that base for the 15 minutes that it takes to hack it and turn it over to your control.

You're still going to get your butt kicked as a noobie though with a lack of skill that you have starting out, so do a "/b LFS" in the Sanctuary when you log in or ask around a base that seems to be the attack front for your faction. Strength in numbers, and you can learn a lot from your teammates.

    2. Are there any good info sites about PS where I can learn some of the lingo and game mechanics?

I'll give you a few that I have used in the past...
Planetside.com For starters, you got lore, weapon info, and updates straight from the horses mouth.
Planetside Universe Probably the most active Planetside fansite community there is.
Online Game Commands List of commands used in Planetside. Includes commands used in Beta though.
Planet Stratics Guide And here's a newbie guide from Stratics. Should probably start your training here soldier.
Guide from these forums Pretty good guide, although poorly written.

There are many more, but those links should help you get started.

    3. If I DL the trial, can I just add PS straight to my station pass, or will i still need to actually buy the game?

If I understand your question correctly, all that you need is the patcher to play the game forever, and the trial comes with that.

Hope that helps. Good fighting to ya!
