I'm extremely late in posting my two cents, but this article is the most current news on the WAR website.

I had subscribed to this game for about a year, at around the game's 1-year mark. I really enjoyed it. I even created characters on a now-extinct ORvR server: Praug. But after a year, I realized that I wasn't really getting my money's worth. Top it all off, stores ceased carrying gametime cards for WAR. So, with a great deal of sorrow I had to cancel my subscription.

If this game were to become free to play, I would return in a heartbeat. I would most likely have to make a new account, as I can no longer access my old account since EA/Bioware changed things. I miss my Black Orc, Magus, Zealot and Witch Elf. I miss the PvP this game had, and its impact still affects me in other games I play. I miss the scenarios. And, you know what, I even enjoyed the PvE aspect of this game and miss it, too.

KEAVEN: Overall, things are going great! I have always personally felt WAR was destined to be for the dedicated hardcore group we have now. I couldn’t be happier that we have such a close, and active, group of players.

rofl.  So he/she has always personally felt that WAR was destined to be a complete and utter failure?

Why dont you make a Kickstarter Project with several goals???

    Example:

    Goal1 at 500.000$ switch from p2p to free2play

Goal2 at 800.000$ new Real Content

Goal3 at 1.000.000$ new Racesand other Content

The Game have enough potential to generate new Members but you let the game die slowly...why? Why are you so stupid...damn!!!

Agreed.  And let me take from what the dev said, "If I had it to do all over again, and I was in a position to affect some influence, I would have to say three realms. Don’t get me wrong, I in no way believe 3-Realms is the “magic bullet” that would solve all of WAR’s balance issues. It would, however, add a player-correcting element that helps keep the battlefield engaging and dynamic. Even with all the other issues WAR may have had, that would have helped prevent players feeling they were painted into a corner, rage quitting, and subsequently emptying the battlefield of bodies (I will point back to the population issue from earlier)."

And that about sums it up.

I cannot speak for everyone, of course, but I cannot possibly describe how many folks on a few servers before and after mergers - all claimed that 3 realms would at least add enough value to the game for them to stay on.  The classes were, in my opinion, just not what they could have been.  After seeing the variety of what DAoC has, 3 realms, 44 classes, 24 races, and so forth, it's just hard to see something that could have been in many ways the next Dark Age, but for some corporate misshap, became the very opposite of that ideal, and yet kept a few buzzwords to keep some of us on, i.e., RvR, and so forth.

I hope they do well, I honetly do...I just wish they would have listened to what so many of us screamed and argued out over the forums.  But I guess that's how it works.

Call it hubrus, or just developers that had no choice or say in the matter, but the folks in authority at EA? forgot that these games are made for the players, not just the people who make the game ala programming and so forth.  If we, the players, consistently point out that we wanted much of what we missed in Dark Age, then by God they should have given that to us.

Considering that even Dark Age's team was unable to give us ORIGINS, and considering how tiny a reward that was after so many years of loyalty..well...heh.

I've never seen a gaming company or DAoC lead developers that have moved on to other development houses who have been more adamant about slapping their name on an MMO that isn't part of the DAoC franchise.  First WAR, then WOH,  then TESO and now CU.  None of which embrace the DAoC franchise or its spirit.  They're simplified and twisted into something tragic, with the three realms being the only thing of note and not even that for both WAR games.

I remember a long time ago i read an old white dwarf magazine.  Being a pretty big warhammer fan now and back then I was pumped to see a big article on a Warhammer MMO.  If i remember correct this was just a little bit after WoW was released.  Seeing the old pics they had and the hopes the then dev team had was thrilling.  To read about how they wanted an open world game in with sort of an EQ feel.  I waited and waited and waited.  WIth no other info i forgot about the game until I saw WAR.  Playing the beta left me with the same feeling I had when I played ToR.  I should like the game and I wanted to like the game but couldn't.  Despite that I convinced myself i was wrong and snagged two WAR CE's for my wife and myself. At first the RVR was fun but the game left me wanting and rather quickly I left the game and returned to Age of Conan.

Its a shame the game has a pretty strong IP and couldve been more than what it was.  Yes I know Warhammer is based around war but the world and the lore is so much for than that.

Playing: TSW, D&D NW, Defiance (more the tv show than game >.> ) LotRO, DCUO
