It may sound harsh, but i think it is the way to go. Who else remembers the harshness of stepping into the old frontiers and getting killed instantly. I do. Did i think it blew, i sure did. But thats just what made me despise the other realms so much. From the moment i took an arrow in the face from a midgard hunter out there i wanted to improve, i set out to level more, i honed my skills to take out other realm races.
Who else stands with me in this feeling? Don't let us be funnelled into false battleground that are just a breading ground for twinked alts to get a fix for killing noobs. Let people work it out for themselves, the way we used to in games.
It will be harsh but thats what RvR is about getting into the thick of it and coming out either on top or on the dirt.

The game should allow for the widest array of playstyles possible. Many DAOC players like the persistent battlegrounds in that game therefore it only makes sense something similar should be in CU. (Nobody to my knowledge is arguing for instanced battlegrounds like in WAR, SWTOR, etc.)
If you don't like battleground twinks and want to take your chances in the frontiers from day 1, then that absolutely should be a choice available to you. But don't try to impose your preference on everybody else.

In a game where players can step in and contribute right away, without having to level up in PvE first, battlegrounds really don't serve much of a purpose. I don't see why CU would have them. I don't think Mark wants this to be a game where you can just log on and teleport right into the fray either.
A level 50 realm rank 1 could also contribute in DAOC right away but not as well as a realm rank 3 could. Therefore many players made sure they at least reached that rank in battlegrounds such as Molvik or Cathal Valley before hitting 50. The same logic will hold true in CU and is one of the reasons having a battleground makes sense.

Don't you think it would be better if players had the tools to contribute in the actualy world right away? I agree that in DAoC, you kinda needed some RRs because of the crowd control, but that might as well be negated by everyone starting at the equivalent of RR3 in CU.
The way I see it, the only purpose battlegrounds would serve in a game such as CU would be as a training ground, and if it's possible to make it feasible to go straight into the game instead of stopping by an arbitrary zone that serves no real purpose in the game world, then I think that should be the goal.
