Ok, since Amazon lowered the price to 49 Euro, and I was curious, I caved in and got the game. No love/hate debates here, just "technical" questions.
I chose the server "Europe East 3" (Europa Ost 3), in the night the server worked, I created two cities and wanted to specialize them. The game saved all nice and dandy, but since this morning I get "Server has crashed" essentially all the time. I played 5-6 hours, the region was saved, but the message was always "Sim City server has crashed". I could NOT trade between my regions, which was especially annoying. Is that normal that after all these days this is still such a heavy issue? I really had thought at least that was working now? Impressions?
Also, I am surprised the game saved my cities. I mean, if the sever is crashed, how can my cities be saved? Can anyone give me a bit a feedback about all this stuff pls?
Thanks.
EDIT: Now, when I try to load a city I had build, it loads a while, then breaks up and says "Can not load city right now." Right now being since the last 2 hours. So is the region permanently broken? Any experiences with this issue?

Wow, even I got a free Origin game. Despite the fact I just had bought Sim City 2 days ago. Not bad. I had not yet bought Mass Effect 3. So I got Sim City from Amazon for 49 Euro, and ME3 for free, means Sim City for 25 Euro and ME3 for 25 Euro. Not bad.
Now if only they get SIm City to work. Someday in the next few months, without our cities falling to the belated Mayan Apocalypse.

Sigh, alas I can at this day, March 21st, only say the game is UNPLAYABLE.
It certainly is a good game underneath. But I still get Server Crash messages 90% of the entire day, on both servers where I have cities. One entire region I build for days has fallen into oblivion, and ever so often I fall through a black screen to the Main Menu. Especially the Server Crash, means 90% of the time the specialized cities in the region do NOT cooperate, rending the game as it is unplayable.
Just as a warning. The matters are FAR from solved. Given how long serious issues in games usually take to patch, I assume honestly it will rather take months than days to solve these issues.
EDIT: I just lost THREE FULL DAYS work. The savegame was "reset" and all the work vanished. I am so done with this game!

I laughed so hard when my brother showed me the flaws of Sim City At first though I was impressed on the detail of the cities and the upgradable buildings etc. But then he showed the weird contradicting design decisions.
- Weird low workforce/population ratio. He showed me a city where there was just about 10% workers and the industry was screaming for workers. At some point the screaming for workers from that advisors starts to become very annoying it seems
- Part of the available precious and small amount of land couldn't be used because you can't terraform lol.
- Parks need to be attached to roads. So if you build a block filled with scyscrapers, you can have some undeveloped land in the center without being able to put down a park in that space (wtf!)
- Ridiculously retarded emergency vehicle service. And busses lol. They do like to drive circles though. Especially in areas where they don't need to be lol.
- The crazy difference between mid density and high density industry/commerce worker demand. Not to mention how this is attached to road type. You want to get rid of traffic jams by upgrading your roads? Sure, but expect that your industry upgrades too, asking for crazy worker amounts that you can't fullfill. With as result that they will take any worker that comes that way and so your oil drilling behind it can't get any workers anymore. The road/zone density connection is a weird design choice. And atm a very bad one with the loltraffic AI.
- Workers don't have a specific job. They just enter the nearest empty jobspace. They don't even know if they are going to shop or work when leaving the house. Mr. Jones is Ms. Sukuki next day because when coming home, the sims do the same. They enter the first empty house lol.
- Fixed connection to the region. This makes no sense at all. The whole regions don't make sense with their small high density city plots and no development in between.
- Future building lot sizes need to be guessed. Which is not a good idea if you are already lacking space.
I can go on and on. The cityplots are way too small, especially considering all the specialisation demands. And this is also without the glaring bugs included and just what I could remember what he showed me lol. He also played with others...once. The game gives too many options to grief other mayors from neighbouring cities.
Oh, he didn't have connection issues. But uninstalled it anyway and went back to SC4.
So far, I have yet to play with anyone else. I don't really care if I ever do so. The game plays just fine for me and don't have to "worry" about getting together a group or joining one.
Let's party like it is 1863!
I'd love to play it with a few RL friends, who played the old SimCity. But everyone is like "BWUAHAHAHA! Paying 80 bucks for a game that doesn't work! NOWAI!" >.<

mmmm SC4 is a better game all around to be honest. also what is up with games forceing you to be online, you really think that will stop people from hacking it, psh please its only a small bit more after hacking the thing in the first place all that kinda thing dose it hurt honest people.
whats the old saying locks are made for honest people.
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to
