Games where you need to group?

AbndnAbndn Member Posts: 53

Hey, i'm not a big fan of all these newer games where you can (and may even be encouraged to) solo everything until you reach "the end game" where grouping becomes mandatory.  I'd like grouping to be optimal pretty much all the way through. Anarchy Online for example was like this. You could solo, but honestly what you really wanted to do was group up for missions or to grind in some area. You'd also have dungeons like Subway and Temple where you'd probably enter solo and end up feeling compelled to group at some point to take on harder content.

The game also has to be fairly populated, and if I can't tell the interface apart from WoW's I'm not interested.

I don't think there really are an newer games like this, but as for older games, Final Fantasy 11 is probably the newest game that requires you to group.  Beastmaster, dancer, and a few others can go solo, but it's a rough life.  And the interface is nothing like WoW though.

can blame you on the WoW bit although some new games would have been better off with WoW then the one they are useing.

but as for games of the nature your talking about, with all the hatred for the trinity, around the MMOs pretty much have to make solo style games cause if ya dont have the trinity people have to be able to do it all on thier own which makes it more SOlo friendly them team friendly.

their is a reason why the trinity was around after all.

if ya find one let me know, but your not likely to find it in a AAA new game.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.

Vanguard?  I think it is one of the best MMOs for what you are talking about.

The interface is like wow, but almost all MMOs use a very similiar interface, IMO.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

Asheron's call2 old skool mmo from 2002 re-launched in dec-2012 is what you called a realy good group game.

Not only most importend quests(also solo quests avaible) are group quest its also a group grind game.

Firt of all its 9 player partys(fellowships) the advantage of that is you get tank-debuffer-dps and your settle for most healer is handy not always needed, then you still have 6 spots to fill with all kinds of classes thats why AC2 party system is so great.

Game is bit of old skool no guidance no marks on maps no npc's with ! above head no arrows or any dots showing where to go totally free to go where ever you want game dont tell you want to do.

Open world still good travel system with mounts and portals.

No disconnect from game you can stay ingame for days.

    Drop items on ground.

Music instruments you can play mobs drop them.

    Great skill tree with .

For now limited pvp only some areas have open pvp rest is whiteserver(hopefully future give us Darktide again).

Very helpfull and nice community that you prolly not have seen for many years in mmo's one i remember have same kind of community is Sage of Ryzom.

Non instance in ac2 all open dungeon to all.

You can sell loot during hunt while looting mob if its crap.

Great old skool mmo you should play if you like grouping but not modern crap you have these days.

Asheron's call 2 is kind of sandbox with little bit thempark. Alot of WoW come from this game only WoW became a Massive casual themepark that AC2 is not.
