So, the announcement for this weekends beta test says we get to do PvP.
Anyone in Alpha (Aero?) that can give us a little perspective on what to expect from it?
Is it small battlegrouds 10v10? more? Do skills have different damage / effects in PvP? Is there good class synergys?

My prediction is it will be the worst part of the game. Maybe I can revisit this thread next week and say that I was wrong, but we know the track record on Cryptic and PVP. I would expect to see only small, instanced pvp matches.
I already see many other things to like about Neverwinter and I will be trying it further regardless of how the PVP is.
In a combat system like Neverwinter's, where player skill seems so much more important than level or gear, I can't pass up PvP. Looking forward to it.
As an aside, if you really do have any experience with Cryptic's PvP, you'll know that they support very large matches (20v20 in Star Trek Online and confirmed 20v20 in Neverwinter) and that they also make it one of many focuses for end-game content.
Some skills will operate differently in PvP than they do in PvE. For instance, they recently noted that Control Wizard skill durations for Control skills will be extended by up to 5 seconds, but not in PvP.
it's pure arena style.
neverwinter is a pve game, having this little instance to brawl in
and obviously having a controle wizzard for cc and a trickster rogue for dmg wont be too bad i'd say
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
Here is what I remember about PVP "at release" for Cryptic titles.
COH - Play a Controlloer and CC the heck out of everyone.
COH - Play a Regen Scrapper and be nearly unkillable.
CO - No experience.
STO - (space) Organized Klingon teams defeat Organized Fed teams the vast majority of the time. When you can collectively alpha strike a vulnerable target, with an entire team of stealth ships.. You have a major advantage.
STO - (ground) 1-2 shot kills galore. It was a joke of a mini-game. Several OP combinations that would allow a solo player to stun and then one shot a helpless opponent.
In each situation it was a side game, a minor distraction. It had no real impact to speak of.
Im in alpha but due to NDA i cannot at this time, nor any other alpha member comment on this said topic.
