I have a question for those who played Skyrim. I can run Oblivion fine on my 4 year old laptop (shush, i know, i know....i had to get a laptop and can't afford a proper PC) so... the question is, can I run Skyrim? I am playing EVE right now but i need some fantasy RPG to play too.
My specs: GeForce 9600M GT , 2.0 Dual Core, 3 gigs ram. I am mainly CPU bound in Oblivion.

eye nunno.. No idea, sorry. I haven't had a laptop since the 90's. Stop laughing.
Just bumping you back to the top for someone to answer ya.
I'm guessing it should. The games was built for 8 year old console tech.
Have you tried that can i run it website?
Asking peoples opinions/experiences because the site sucks for laptops.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." I think you can run it, but you will more than likely have to run on lower settings.
There are a few mods that are designed to even improve performance on lower end/older pcs. My system runs skyrim pretty well but i enjoy lots and lots of immersive mods. So i use a few of the performance boosters as well b/c around 100+ mods i start to notice a slight bit of a slow down. Here are only a few that i can think of off hand you might want to check out; All can be found at skyrim nexus.
- HiAlgoBoost
- Skyrim Project Optimization
- fxaa post process injector (works for other games sometimes as well, id skip this one unless you're confident)
- IMAGINATOR
- Optimizer Textures
- and those are the ones i can think of off hand there are more!
Note; a few of these will even improve your graphics while improving performance! Good luck and please let us know how it works out.
And also if you are new to this you should maybe check out Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) also available at skyrim nexus, unnofficial patches, wyre bash etc.
I can play it on a HP dv6-1360 just fine. It's a 2.1Ghz Core2Duo with 4GBs system memory and a 1GB ATI 4650HD graphics card. I can run it at medium settings at about 30-50 FPS. Your laptop isn't very far behind mine as mine is about 4 years old as well so it should be almost the same performance.

4 year old laptop vista or win7?
3gig ram maybe not enough graphics card bit old.
On low settings maybe?
People who say skyrim can be run on console is becouse its opitmized for console its not same version as PC have.
Consoles functions on a whole other technological architecture than computers I'm afraid.
I'm guessing that he will end up having to install atleast three more RAM to avoid framedrops and lag. And he might want to invest in a stationary incase he can't fit any more RAM in his lappy.
Other than that, the game will probably run, but it won't be a pleasant experience.
