Looking for a casual sandbox MMO

doug200463doug200463 Member UncommonPosts: 46

Looking for Casual Sandbox MMOs, something where i do not have to worry so much about combat. I play many mmos, and i want something to play when i just dont feel like your everyday gear grind that is todays MMO.

Must be PVE (as i suck at PvP)

Must have robust crafting system

Must have town building

I already tries Wurm online, and i cannot get past not seeing my character, plus the lack of animations blows the immersion (example when you mine, you just stand there, no animation) if you know of a game that fits this, please post a name here and Ill research it. Thanks!

well, you can try haven & hearth (it is 2d tho), it has a FFA PVP, but i didnt fight with player even once all the time i played it

otherwise you can look at some "semi-sandboxes" - vanguard or istaria

I'd love to play something similar though I don't think an MMO is out ATM that matches that description. Archeage will feature house building/plant growing and EQN is apparently going to be a huge sandbox. You may keep an eye on those.

I would suggest getting Minecraft and getting on an RPG server. Minecraft is really opening up and delivering more than just a collect/build game. Good luck!

Haven & Hearth or Salem are your best bets.

    Also, SWGEmu.

    Istairia.

    Lots of PVE.

One of the best crafting games out there.

You can have a plot. One per account.  So you can build a town, or get in a guild and help build the town.  Not any decorations unfortunately (some banners thats it), but build halls, crafting stations, vendors, merchants, banks, towers, silos, walls, trees, gardens, gazebos, tiles, libraries...  hundreds and hundreds of structures.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

If you don't mind 2d, UO is still a pretty fun sandbox. Very PVE focused.

WurmOnline is very possible, with servers that don't have it's RvR.  But it's grindy.

EvE is possible as well, but the the actual crafting is weak(but made up for with the amazingly well done market).  Lacking on an individual changing the world.

Haven and Hearth, one of the sanest crafting systems I've seen.   But possibly grindy if you want to "max yourself out".

    _______

It's really hard to have a "casual" sandbox game.   A sandbox game should have the ability to change the world...  To do this you're going to need some way to really inhibit players ability to do so(otherwise the world starts to get contorted badly).   So it's grind/PvPer/Something else.

Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.
