I'll be honest here, I have no idea what you people were looking at.  The CGI was pretty poor in a lot of areas.  I mean, sometimes it looked like I was watching the original cinematics for Starcraft 1.  You know, the part, with the buggy, which looked oddly familiar to the one the two characters were driving in the beginning of the episode.

Plus, and I'm sick and tired of seeing this in movies.  NO ONE SHAKES THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH IN REAL LIFE, EVER!  It was driving me crazy,  Why do film producers do this?  Does no one tell them that it looks stupid?  Do any of you shake the wheel back and forth endlessly when you drive?

The acting was pretty suspect in the beginning as well, from the guy more than anyone else.

The premise is cool and I'm willing to give it a chance.  It just didn't hook me like Game of Thrones or Falling Skies.  Or even series like Breaking Bad or House.  The only interesting thing to me at this point is that the girl is pretty damn attractive.

I take it you never went offroading, the wheel is allways back and forth, you logic fails sorry. (Google off road cockpit view)

everything else is just a matter of taste.

Try driving off road on rugged terrain lets see how steady you keep the wheel lol.  The CGI looked good to me and prolly to most people. Falling Skies was crap and had realy shitty CGI effects.

    Thanks a lot!

I think Trion and Syfy are doing a great work. Game is good (don't listen to all the haters who just played 5 minutes in beta, game is getting better and better as you go on, Marin is great, San Francisco is simply amazing!), TV show seems a new Firefly and I can't wait to see it.

    Great work, really great work!

    Are you done now?

Actually... rocks, ruts etc. in the dirt road move the tires (and the wheel as a result) which causes the driver to react by turning slightly the other direction to compensate, then turn a little back to straighten. When you have rough road, this is nearly continual and can look like your shaking back and forth a lot. Basically, if you don't you wind up in a ditch.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

I enjoyed the 14min teaser and the beta for the game even though a lot of the stuff was intentionally left out of the beta for launch to give people lots of suprises and I'm all for it , The show and the game reminds me a lot of Firefly and Farscape with a dash of War of the Worlds (80's TV show).

Looks like a good waste of time imo, most likely it will go the way of Stargate: Universe, Terra Nova, Falling skies etc, cancelled in under 2 seasons..

I was pleasently surprised by the production values. Felt more like watching a big budget Sci Fi movie than a tv show.

This show will last atleast for 5 seasons like BSG. I am quite sure about it.

I'm not exactly sure what folks were expecting.

It does not look like a Star Wars, or Star Trek movie, with those sorts of production values. Then again, why would someone expect it to look like that? I think it does look better, and have better production values than the typical B-Grade SyFy shows, and frankly as good as or better than other similar shows.

I get the feeling that SyFy has invested more in Defiance than other shows they have done, and are betting more on its success.

Let me guess, but "Firefly" was the greatest SciFi ever?  The show that couldn't make it a full season while Farscape was canceled in it's Prime (winning awards) due to expense and stupid exec's.

People bash on the SyFy movies (and channel) which I think is hysterical...

Don't they get it... SyFy KNOWS they're making B movies.  THEY'RE doing it on purpose!  They're Cheap, they're cheesy, they're funny.  Those that are stupid enough to bash SyFY like they think "OH we're putting out top notch movies for Saturdays" guess what... A damn TV Channel just trolled you.

    Pretty Sad.

When they want to make decent series television, they make some pretty popular shit.  Everything from Farscape and BSG, to Eureka, WH13 and Haven.   Maybe YOU don't like it, but a hell of a lot of people do.

DO they make some stinkers? sure... Tremors was a bad idea.  Caprica didn't go over like they wanted.  But let's not even look at the other networks 1000's of fails.

Still on the fence about ordering to be honest, even after playing in BETA... but it seems like a lot of people are playing.  Few more hours still to pre-order. hum
