WildStar?  No, I'm pretty sure it's been planned as F2P the whole time.

    I really doubt that.

B2P is highly probable, and even P2P is quite probable to me. But just cash shop without a box price would necessitate loads, and I mean loads of active players to make this "the next big thing" - which Carbine developers again and again said they were aspiring to.

yes to this, after the developer interview they had with a couple of guys from Carbine on this site, Id not even get suprised if it will be a P2P game, but as far as I know nothing is official yet - just the developer said he thought it made sense and were good buisness to start P2P and then down the road go F2P (shorten version ofc Oo)

but he didnt say which route WS would go...but I do think people think it will B2P now just because they partnered with the same publisher as GW2, which I think is abit fast to draw to the assumption that it will be B2P.

I do hope they copy GW2 though, I liked GW2, compared to P2P + cashshop - would prefer P2P and no more buisness in my game but the game itself - do get the sense alot of MMO players like to shop though, I feel like Im in a minority.....absolutely hate shopping and sellers, if it is not part of game itself,  found or crafted. actually if you should go all paranoid, you could wonder if they will sell items for the housing, since it gives diffrent bonuses

I'm REALLY looking forward to this game !

I love the humour and the over-the-top cartoony style, it all looks like it will be great fun to play.

I was a great fan of SWG's housing implementation, and Wildstar's housing definitely trumps SWG. It's instanced, but who cares ? SWG's open-world housing was great in theory, but awful in practice. Vast tracts of mostly abandoned housing covered large areas of the game world, simply because 80% of house owners only built a house so that they could have extra storage space.

    B2P, F2P or P2P, I don't care, this is one MMO I'll definitely be playing in 2013...

IF they hit 2013.  Seems like goals often fail to hit the time selected.   However, I'd rather have a fully functional WS instead of an on time WS.

Good question.  Hi Bill.  Great show btw.

OH! Speaking of challenges....PLEASE do not show where quests items are on the map or mini map.  No arrows, color areas, skulls, etc.... What ever happened to reading, exploration, and finding solutions.  Let me experience a challenge PLZ.

You mean inevitably going and looking it up on a wiki page when you wander around for an hour after not finding what you're looking for?

I dont think, they will have only 40man raids, but also I'd like to add, over the last couple years there has been a lot of Raid hate, progression grind, gear treadmill or whatevs people call it, yet, many guilds sustain communities around battling this type of PVE challenge. Raiding is ridiculous fun, and it would seem the larger community doing it, wants it to be hard this is what is striking a chord with Wildstar.

Yeh, harder raiding, like 40mans, super gated by boss, and gear isn't for everyone, but there is a undying niche, that is waiting for a game to come out and to "care" about raiding in such a way, they claim too for this game.

I guess what I'm saying is, you say a blanket statement like, 40man raiding is bad, I say maybe its bad for you, but for me, sounds like a blast! I mean just last night while raiding, I mentioned them saying upto 40mans possibly, and basically everyone was excited, sighting even bigger raids from games gone by, sighting the most fun they had in WoW.

So yeh, I'm excite, hopefully its not another hype into fail.

If need be...yes.  But I actually never needed to do so.  IF, which was rare to happen,  I was totally lost, then people were normally nice enough to help.  I helped them too, people became friends, and an MMO community was born.

Do you just like the paint by numbers with arrows, BS telling you what to kill and making you act like a drone?   Rinse and repeat bordom and isolation - no thanks.  I'll take breaking  that with a little work and a challenge any day.

I did the 40 mans in vanilla, and I liked them too.  It wasn't the content.  It was getting everybody there on schedule, constant bio-breaks, phone calls, letting the dog out, and feeding the baby every time you blinked that caused the 40 man raids to be a hassle.  MC night and beyond were to live for...even if I fell a sleep the next day lol.

Haha all the payment claims and speculation. Dev(s) has said recently that they're still open to different payment models. I personally think that this game should have box sales to help them make some initial money. I don't care much for strait f2p games anyways...quality is quality and it should come with a $.

I doubt it. Subscription MMO's are a thing of the past. (unless you're Blizzard)

I think WildStar will be buy-2-play, like GW2. And they'd be wise to do so.

SWG was full of ghost towns, huge empty cities everywhere on each planet. Thats wasnt a good housing system at all.

The dialogue and voice of the guy in the video is amazing , reminds me of dragons lair or space ace :) made me laugh a good few times. I might try it as pso2 has been delayed. Especially if defiance hasn't got staying power.

    Cheers,

F2P? Says who? I have yet to see any news about a payment model.

Personally, I am looking forward to this game even if it started out as a subbed based payment model.

    3)  I like their housing setup and art work.

    4)  I like developers that try to have fun.

Please do not do what Blizzard did and screw it up.  Bliz had a good formula, but now they have caca.  I have hope for this one.  It REALLY looks FUN and I miss fun.  So many games are boring.  More work than play.

-1)  40man raids are BAD.  Great content, but the human (idiot) factor is a bust.

Can't wait to see how this one progresses.

I pretty much agree with all of this - although I would also do -1 for the graphic style but that's just my own preference.  The raid thing is my biggest turn off thus far.

Sadly its going F2P.  I've learned to avoid this games, as all chat and crap ever is, is retarded farmers spamming this and that.
  • NikopolNikopol Member UncommonPosts: 626

40-man raiding is an absolute blast if you can get get a good friendly and organized guild. With a bad raid group, you can have all those problems (bio break, taking the dog out, shower, finishing writing one's debut novel etc.) in a 10-man group as well.

I would never say organizing them was easy, but I sure had more fun in the 40-man raids than the 2-group affairs that seems to be the norm these days. The more people, the better: I like people. :)

Got an article, tweet, or something to prove it is going to f2p? I'll assume you're as clueless as so called "retarded farmers" (whatever that means) spamming nonsense.

only SWG 2 could "one up" SWG housing. That instanced stuff is not even scratching the surface of what SWG housing was.

I'd say that's a good assumption, given that the 'farmer spam' he's referring to exists in ALL MMOs atm, not just F2P ones.

That aside, there hasn't been any announcement yet of this games payment model, but it's a good bet to assume it will be F2P. It just makes sense. F2P models have been shown to yield more money over time, and they gate less players from experiencing your game, which means it's easier to bring in new players or returning vets.

Keeping in mind its uncanny resemblance to WOW in terms of look...i have a feeling Wildstar is going to be next big thing on hate meter. Yes even i was surprised how much it looks and plays like WOW.

I've been following this game for almost 2 years now and I can't think of anything I've been disappointed by yet.  With every tidbit of news I get more and more excited.  And there is still a ton of info to be released.  The full details of the path systems, 2 more playable races, and 2 more classes are all still to be announced.  I really dig the atmosphere of this game.  It's like vanilla WoW, TERA, SWG and Futurama combined their DNA to make a MMO baby.

I can't get my head around who this game was designed for visually.  As an adult gamer, the look doesn't appeal to me in the least.  Guild Wars 2 is about as far in the direction of cartoon graphics I want to get.  The gameplay for this game would have to be phenominal for me to get over the looks and actually like my character and the game world.  I don't see that happening since we're just talking about another themepark.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
