So, all these Scarlet Blade ads...

...Made me consider the armour design on the fairer gender.

Given DAoC and WAR's approch to armour design (Witch Elf and Sorcereress aside), this might come across as more of a rhetorical question, but is it fair to assume that the armour designs will remain more consistent across both genders? Men get a full set of platemail that covers them completely, women are also completely covered, not... the man is completely covered, the woman's suddenly forms into a bkini. 

I don't want to turn this into some sexism argument though such sexualised armour does make me roll my eyes and it can be very immersion breaking at least for me personally.

    I've been visiting this site a lot less since I've been showered with these sexual ads.

    I have a wife and kids, and all these booby ads make it look like a porno site unless you actually come read and you see it's a gaming site dressed as a porno site.

    Given the target demo and thus the lack of need to put dem b00bi35 in to capture the pervo crowd, I am pretty sure it'll be more like daoc, with armor fairly equivalent across genders, women's armor being more fitted to a curvy female form perhaps.

    Personally? I like boobs and stuff. Don't want em in CU, but I wouldn't be mad at em if they were ;)

    I personally just prefer armor that looks good AND functional. I never really cared for having all the female toons over sexualized with skimpy armor that wouldn't protect their vitals in the least. But, OTOH, I don't mind when there are npcs that were non fighting types that fit that type and/or if there was cosmetic or "town" outfits that allowed a player to dress their toon how they chose when out of combat. Of course, in the end, it's just a game and not in any way real but I always just sort of roll my eyes when I see female characters that are supposed to be a heavy armor class dressed in a steel push up bra and a leather skirt.

    But I thought the more revealing the armor, the better it was, e.g. more defense or bonuses?  What have MMO taught me!?

    Today was the first day I was actually bombarded with them.  It really turns me off, and I'm going to supply feedback to the site about it.  Its just low-quality porn ads imho.

    That's ridiculous.. The fact MMORPG actually allows this is even more assinine.

     

    So, the male's are completely covered in armor, but the females are barely wearing anything?  What 40-year old virgin made this game?  At least Age Of Conan was straight up about it's nudity.

    I personally don't mind them. Heck, even if they were more hardcore I wouldn't "mind" them.

    However, since my job is being a paper pusher and I can freely read posts  at work between "pushin'", it's more difficult to read this site at work.

    I agree, I don't remember seeing ads this explicit before. Doesn't seem to be an appropriate ad for a site that wants to be taken seriously IMO.

    PC is in my living room, i did have to explain to my wife that its actually adverts for an online game..  and not something else.. trouble is, im not sure she isnt wrong in what she's thinking image

    i kind of prefer my games to be less T&A and more game, i have porn sites for that you know the one with pitures of real women i dont get the anime girl thing.

    also i have tried that game and meh is about all i can be bothered with saying.

     

    F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage

    Exactly right. And the MMORPG.com people were bitching before that people using adblockers were hurting their revenue. Well, if they are going to run images that are NSFW, they brought it on themselves and can stop complaining.

    I guess i have grown past such things because skimpy females made out of pixles don't even bother me anymore. I would never play the game but ads do not bother me at all.

    The fact it seems to advertise 100% on sexual appeal, it makes me come to the conclusion the gameplay is shit.

     

    Just saying, that literally what it tells me where it has to advertise appearances over combat or other features. Its not even 'subtle' with it either which makes it that much worst.
