Chiming in to mention Mabinogi. They give everyone a free piece of land (a Homestead) that let's you grow crops, herbs, and farm animals on it. You can buy a house from the the guild who owns that particular housing district (they're non-instanced) and design it while putting in useful crafting tools or just furniture.
