    Pretty simple:

    • It's being made by the guy who made DAOC.
    • Like DAOC, it will have 3 realms.
    • Like DAOC, it will be based on Norse, Celtic, and Arthurian myths and legends.
    • It will have no PvE leveling or raiding for dropped gear.
    • All character progression will be done through RvR or crafting.
    • It will bring back certain old school game mechanics such as hard interrupts and meaningful race selection.

    1) good system interruption

    2) CC

    3) no casting while moving

I also believe that we don't want a lot of players running around as fast as they can while casting spells, using abilities, etc. if we want to have a successful combat system so expect that casting & moving is not going to be a core component of the system.

    4) no WoW graphic:

This made me chuckle. I had the same conversation with our lead concept artist. It pretty much boiled down to "Look at WoW and don't do it that way for CU."

    5) MJ is doing this

    6) MJ is talking with everybody on forum

    7) reactional styles

    8) different classes for all 3 realms

    9) realm pride / class pride / crafter pride etc.

and much more things like that I can't recall right now.

Just read foundator's principles on http://citystateentertainment.com/camelotunchained/

In addition to all the great points above.

Player backed/funded game not rushed to market by a large production house who is trying to recoup their 50M investment.  Goals to cater to a smaller community of MMORPG players.  MJ who has done a lot of projects with RVR/PVP focus.  As another poster mentioned, no running mages who cast fireballs at will from their magical hands.  IMHO, first real KS MMO with a seriously well known development team.  At this point in time, the promise of in-game perks through KS backing.

One of the best thing is MJ has always, and I mean always been interactive with his game's fanbase.Like or dislike him, he does make his customers feel appreciated.

The game is made by a gamer, his goal is to make a great game. compared to big studios where they only aiming for the bucks at the end,

He buillds his game with the Foundational Principles, and those FPs are all taking about the game, and not talking about how to make more money, this is inspiring.

The game wont hold our hands, compared to most mmos outthere.

The reason for the big hype is mostly because this is a niche game type that MANY people been waiting for years, its exciting to know a game is made to PLEASE us.

my recommendation...get the two week trial and take 14 toons to thidranki.....play one per day.

    you will then know

a lot of hype on things that can not be gurrenteed till the game is made, i hope people dont get disapointed but i got alot of concerns about the whole kickstarted based game funding thing.

honestly i hope it all comes true.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage

Extensive crafting mechanic that is a key element of the PvP/RvR.  Can build anywhere in the world.  Player cities.

This game is being made for the old foggie gamers who enjoyed MMO's 10 years ago before WoW swooped in and inspired game studios to design by the dollar for a piece of the pie that WoW had generated, rather then being inspired to make games for the sake of making a great game and letting your products overall re play value and extrondinary meta game speak for itself.

DAoC didn't need server events, or gear grinding to intrigue a player base to stay. The RvR, and Meta mechanics involved with RvR did a good enough job on their own to keep players coming back foaming at the mouth.

EDIT: IT's also is worth mentioning that a game like DAoC sparked certain emotions that you can't get from your average MMO's in today genre. Anything from fearing XP loss for dying in PVE, to blood pumping adrenaline as an assasin lining up the perfect angle to unload an alpha strike. All these things and more are the feelings and emotion that drives this fan base.

3 tier realm vs realm mmorpg from the guy who did it first, did it best and made it work.

Many of us looked for this in Warhammer, GW2, PS, PS2 plus others and no-one has ever done is as well as the original DAoC did 11 years ago.

Even now DAoC is unrivalled for RvR.

A lot of players have extremely fond memories of DAoC and have been looking forward to a suitable successor for years.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

I am just excited because chicks love guys who nerd out over conceptualized mmorpg mechanics. I am very desirable right now.

If we are to get back to the old days of community we have to take away all of the hand holding.  As my first MMO, DAOC had little to no hand holding and I was forced to ask questions.  And for me that is at the bottom of my options list.  But this mechanic truly helped build the community.  No question marks over NPC’s to tell he who to talk to, No glowing paths on the ground to tell me which way to go.

It is human nature to take the path of least resistance.  So if they offer me a lazy way to accomplish something, I would take it.

Little did I realize that these hand holding mechanics I have become accustomed to and liked were making my game play less enjoyable.

As an example, later in the game, I can remember getting question after question after question from some new player and it annoyed me to all ends.  I answered them as best I could but really did not want to.  For some reason I felt obligated too as I was not doing anything at the moment and he was standing right in front of me.  But down the road and sometime later we became friends and my life is now better for it.  I need to be forced to expose myself in these virtual worlds where hiding is so easy.

Without the nanny state holding our hands and guiding us through the predetermined path we are forced to let our true identity to be seen even if it is against our nature.

CU promises to lead us down this path of salvation.

The fact that there are no PvE drops. So any gear the players use comes directly from crafters. So we will finally have a place to craft that is a necessity and not just a time sink. And not every character will be able to max their crafting. Only dedicated crafters can rise to the artisan rank and be truly sought after. I say, it's about time  :)

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom — for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself. ~Declaration of Arbroath
