I played it sometime ago. I like towns are designed and graphics are ok, but rest of the mmorpg was too much typical level grinding for me, but its free and would say one of the better free mmorpgs. I think they have one pvp, rp and pve server now (someone correct if I am wrong).
As free games go this is likely one of the best. The community is fantastic also but as was stated before there is somewhat of a level grind. Unlike AO, this game will be free for pretty much ever. There is an RP server, PvE server and even a PvP server. With a free download as was stated earlier it certainly wont hurt to try.
I find the roleplay server to be most enjoyable when I do find time to log in. The played out chatter gets to be quite amusing at times. But yes it is a grind. At least I get free entertainment from fellow players while I mine, gather materials, etc.

It has a reputation system, so "good" monsters can be killed (there is a bandit quest) - so kill monster A and monster B will respect you (for killing their enemy), so bandits vs. guards. Just not as fully featured. Content is slowly being added, which may make that system more relevant.
So far, that is it. But with enough "good" monsters, that reputation can change. PvP is allowed on all servers - from None, consensual, to always. Halbred server is fully PvP with 3 safe zones (main town, its keep with vault, and another zone).
A nice game to look at, play with no risk, and hopefully enjoy.
