Please explain why this game which still doesn't have the full funds for development is the most hyped game on this website figuring the fact Mark Jacobs last game bomb hard? Is there something I missed? I don't understand why people hype these games up so damn much.......
Comments
He has a point, really. If this were an in house development process, it wouldn't be anywhere near a "go" yet, it's not much more than design docs, so it's hard to call it a game. The hype part however...
I have no interest in a pvp game but when the dev spends as much time talking with his fans here as MJ does...it leaves fans with a lot of hope towards the game.
Of course ppl will have to wait and see what happens but it's off to a better start than most mmos. I wont be playing the game but I have a lot more respect for him now that I've seen some of the things he has to say. If he made a game with PvE in it I'd take an honest look at it.
^This
No other fully PvP centric game made it...but this is the BOMB so far...for some reason.
Who knows this could turn into garbage too, there will be a lot of input from single minded selfish thinkers ( players ).
I just hope MJ and his team are careful with how much they listen to people
Ozek - DAOC
Niix - Other games that sucked
well as a daoc'er, I can attest there's good reason to be champing at the bit, but we may be drooling a lil too much.
Read the Foundational Principles if you don't understand why people are Hyped for this game. I gave it a 10/10...

Why...DAoC was NOT a PvP game. It was a grand mixture of all things and didn't even know it. Plenty of everything. Not this game. No...we have to make it the 1/3 of DAoC and none of the rest.
I had high hopes too. But when I tested/played DAoC, it was MOSTLY leveling to get to the fun RvR/PvP. Then it was a blast to do the RvR/Pvp.
This? Not so much
ok? Games producers have promised a lot and none have really met those standards as of late for example WAR was going to be an amazing PVP game right? How did that turn out? I'm sorry I won't take Jacobs word until I play the finished product not people in beta claiming it's good because it's a new game and 2 weeks later move on cause in reality the game sucks like what happened with FFXIV.
I am looking forward to the mix of old and new concepts. Some of the FP's resonate well with me, especially FP 8. Creating an environment which encourages socializing with other players, even if you don't always see eye to eye with one another. Most of us played DAoC and have fond memories of it and this game is the spiritual sequel of that game, much like Bioshock was the spiritual sequel to System Shock 2.

See it first. Until then you're being sold a dream. I have a lot of respect for what Mark is doing. I just don't think some can handle it.
Darkage was a decent game at the time but you must have forgotten this http://ageofreckoning.warhammeronline.com/

And anybody who has been coming to this site for the past few weeks will see the very high amount of hype that CU has. It is the most hype I have ever seen for a game that hasn't even entered into alpha yet.
No one has forgotten WAR. The difference between the games is night and day though. The biggest prob being DAOC ran for 5 years before EA came in and tried to EA it. WAR was EA'd from the very start, the impact that fact had on both games is still apparent to this day.
Can we have that catch on as a saying please. To 'EA' something; to ruin or wreck something.
Hyped or talked about? There is a difference.

Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you playing an MMORPG?"
Obviously hyped which I stated at the time of the post it was the most Hyped game on MMORPG.com
People greatly anticipate this game because it's fits very well with their tastes which aren't being catered to in many other mmo's. Your question is kind of loaded when you take that into consideration. It's like asking 'Why are the mangos coming this season the most anticipated and hyped fruit'.... in essence you're asking people to explain why their tastes are the way they are.
I don't keep up with devs much, but what game of Jacobs' "bombed hard"?
EDIT: from reading the thread more, I think you meant Warhammer Online? Yeah, that had a lot of hype too.
Loads of examples and reasons why have been provided in this thread, which you created. You've chosen to ignore them or dodge them and steer the discussion to a place that fits your narrative. If we were all fanboys we'd still be playing WAR, when you start throwing out names it's the first indication you've realised your argument is weak.
