Why does everyone compare one mmo to another that isn't in the same category and why does people alw

I don't understand why people compare other mmos that are even in the same category. Like when people compare gw2 to wow. There is really no need to compare them to each other. Wow is wow  and gw2 is gw2. Wow has a trinity that it is built upon. Gw2 doesn't have a trinity so it's not in the same category as wow. They way each game works doesn't compare at all. They HAVE THIER OWN UNIQUE PLAY STYLE!!!!!!!!. First off nothing can kill wow except the company itself. They said WoW will kill EQ but you still find players who still play EQ and enjoy playing it. If EQ was killed the game wouldnt be available to play AT ALL.  All these new games will not kill no games. The might take the population from another game but there will always be players that will play that came no matter what people say. Just because WoW is popluar it doesnt mean that every game is it CLONE.  EQ and i think Final Fantasy Online came out before WoW. You can say WoW was a step up from how EQ was but theres always aspects of EQ in WoW like all games have some aspect of a certain game but there is always a difference yet some people are too ignorant to even see that. They are just quick to accuse. WoW, EQ, Guild Wars,and Final Fantasy Online has made a basic game design for most games. It doesn't that all games are like that or are made to become like that. That right click to start the attak/autoattack was a basic mmo game system. Hot bars and tabing to another target are basic mmo game system. Instance/dungeons, raiding, crafting, factions(sometimes), classes, the trinity, the races,the game codes, the looks are all made up of basic mmo game system. All mmos in general will either bring something new, improve something, excel in one section( combat based mmos like tera, vindictus, dragon nest, etc...), or leave as basic system update.

TO ALL IGNORANT, CLOSED MINDED, DONT WANNA TRY SOME NEW, THINK EVERYTHING IS A CLONE OR COPY, AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE N'T TRIED OR PLAYED MANY MMOS LIKE ME , OPEN MINDED PEOPLE, AND PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO TRY NEW GAMES NEED TO STFU BECAUSE YOU GUY DON'T BE KNOWING WHAT YOU SAYING BECAUSE YOU ARE USED TO THAT ONE GAME, BELIEVE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY, OR JUST WHAT TO VOICE YOUR OPINION ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT PLEASE STOP YOU ARE ONLY HURT PEOPLE WHO NEVER PLAYED MMOS.

Note:  I have played tera, WoW, EQ and EQ2, Aion, Champions online, some Aeria games, Flyff, Pirates online, rift, DCUO, Dragon Nest, Vindictus, gpotatoes games, etc....

only game people talk about other games being that game's killer is WoW. that's the only game i've seen being used like that. so and so is gonna be a WoW killer, so and so is the next WoW killer. You never see EQ killer, or Tera killer, or GW2 killer. Only WoW killer.

 

Edit: also FFXI was definitely not out before WoW.

Go give EVE a try, then you'll understand why many MMOs are considered to be standard theme parks that are more similar to each other than different.

Unfortunately OP missed many of the early titles such as AC, DAOC, SWG, AO, Lineage 1/2 etc so has no frame of reference to how different gameplay really can be.
