Originally posted by garrett Guys, as mentioned above, this video is an early PROTOTYPE.
Well.... all credit goes to Robert with his upcoming Star Citizen.... as his PROTOTYPE blows Richard Garriott's into oblivion.
Hence why I have actually faith in Robert (who still has a clean track record) and pledged for him and avoid the jokes of the game industry (Richard Garriott, Mark Jacobs) like the plague!
Both of these jokes have shown absolutely NOTHING! But already started up Kickstarter to beg for money!
Hell, even the guys from Grimdawn had actually something to show for (actual high quality ingame gameplay footage), when they started Kickstarter.
Bah, screw it. This is so ridiculous & ignorant it only warrants a liberal does of the ignore feature.
It's not even in Alpha and already it's become PAY TO WIN.
NEW: Available only to backers, you will receive one Immortality Fruit seed. With the Farming Craft you can plant the Immortality Fruit seed, which will bear a single fruit. When eaten, this fruit will fully heal you, and leave you with a single seed which can be planted and harvested, over and over, for all eternity. The Immortality Fruit seed can be transferred between players.
That is just plain sad, I'll pass.
I have to admit at this stage we are talking some crazy stuff coming out of RIchard and the team. Yes, buy-to-win cash-shop is how that will probably have to go for the game to make money, but to come out with the ideas so early seems likely to put off players. I think we are talking the cash credit card being needed for housing options, crafting, and game customisations. Yep, we are talking a hard-on cash shop here again, but I can't see another way with a kickstarter mmo. Ultima Forever looks more promising as Mythic/EA are aiming now at somehting that we can all see and it looks like a promising iPad/PC mmorpg game. Shroud likely is 2015 game, so we will see, but I am thinking this one to fire and forget about untill actualy full betas come arround.
I just signed up on MMORPG but if the bulk of this thread is any indication of the cluster-fuck that passes for discussion than I doubt I will be staying very long.
Many of you seem to possess little more than a cursory knowledge of the game but are all too happy to condemn it. A lot of you don't even have your facts straight. Knee-jerk reactions born of ignorance make me sick; it is an insult to human intelligence.
I don't care if people think Shroud of the Avatar will be the greatest game ever made or a giant pile of junk but for the love of Zeus, at least learn what the game actually is (and more importantly is not) first.

$2 million mark passed. In your face trash heap MMORPG.com community (and I mean that very much especially to the old GM thread community that was locked, which I am also a backer of).
It seems like alot of you people just like to throw conjecture, half-truths, half-lies, stuff you dig out of your behinds and revell in your new found discovery, etc.
I would like to know how someone can think a free potion that has a cooldown timer is pay-to-win?? If that is the case you must think that of EVERY GAME OUT THERE that does this. EverQuest 1 and 2 (items you get for paying to get expansions), hell even Defiance has a FREE GRENADE on a cooldown. You NEVER have to get them from an ammo crate once you pick them up in the tutorial!
well the differance here is itpaladin everyone can state their opinions good or bad. Sure, some of the community are just munchers but you get that in any open forum that allows free opinions. As far as pay to play, meh I am with you most games offer it on some sort of level. What I agree with most however is Garett has passed his prime in making games. His track record is bleak beyond ultima which many loved for it was the best interpitation of role playing put to the computer at it's time.
However, sense then his skills have been lackluster, he reminds me of John Romero, he made doom he made a few descent games then became full of himself. Sadly I don't see Garrett changing his tones in his kickstarter.
It's great for those that want it to be this great game that it has made it's funding, but I for one feel sorry for the lot of you. It is just as an invesment firm looks at a history of a company to tell their clients if the invesment would actually payout. If a company fails to deliver and their past shows this a few times over without any gain, well it's time to drop that stock from the profilio and never look back till major changes happen in leadership or core rebuilding of the company.
Most of these end up being new people and new ideas to bring the company back. CEO's don't keep their jobs if they don't perform in most cases and those that do never see any value in their company and or stock increase. Your history says allot about your actions, people can change no doubt about it, but to ask people to look beyond past transactions without seeing prior proof of performance is just silly.
The article came up here on MMORPG and people responded, the people in the kickstarter are fans and it's all rainbows and lollypops on the forums there which is expected. Don't expect the same in any main stream forum site, it just won't happen in Garrets case, he burnt allot of old fan bridges. Obviously thou he still has enough willing to give him another shot, thou I don't doubt this will be last one so the game might turn out as described. Only time will tell.
"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"
What do people say to what he said about TR changing 3 times to please the publisher so what people saw was not his vision? People have talked about how they hated the TR they saw and it seems they blame him.

Wonder about the dungeons crawling and monster base. Gremlins running around pickpocketing? Wall spells?
Today i made a video using some parts of from U1-U9 and some scenes of SotA Prototype, very funny to remember those games... good times.

I don't think anyone mentioned that here.
