I created a toon and guess what happened.

I took the 3rd option at creation and guess what happened? Enter the starting city and I get messages from 8 spam bots (general discussion) and 2 private messages from the same company.

The biggest problem all those messages are also chat bubbles. 3/4 of my screen was big white chat bubbles of said site.

So I said, you know, this could just be the starter experience. I went north through the city and picked a spec and as I leave town there are approximately 15-20 people all lined up in a perfect line outside that oriental gate all with their own chat bubbles of spam.

I uninstalled before I played the game for even 15 minutes.

I hope to come back and play it someday.

I have never had a gold seller private message me in this game. Not once. The most I see of gold spam is 1 or 2 guys in Scene chat and occasionally one in World. As soon as I see them, I Blacklist them and I don't see any more for the rest of the day.

As for those 15 - 20 people lined up with chat bubbles, I'm wondering if those were player stalls. A player can set up a personal stall to sell goods, and they can set up a repeating message in Nearby chat, which has chat bubbles. There are designated stall areas in each city, so you won't be bombarded with those messages unless you go to those areas. You could also set up your chat and ignore Nearby while you're in those areas.

What you describe is honestly nothing like what I've experienced in game. I'd suggest trying the game again, because there is a really unique and fun experience to be had, though it does have a higher learning curve than most MMOs out there, so I would be prepared for that.

Oh, what is "general discussion" (first paragragh of your post)?

That sums up majority of gaming experince when it comes to Asian MMOS.

Yes, I've been told it's pretty out of control. Give them time to see if they sort it out.

:) Those are player stalls lol.

No question there is an issure with spam though. About 3 sites spam all day. The problem is that you can put so much in chat, so when they spam they fill your chat window.

There are two ways around it atm. 1 blacklist them, you will fill it quick, then delete the old ones black list the new. The other most effective option is to click the little box on your chat frame that says "items only" You wont see any spam that way, but you may miss somethings.

It really got bad about 2 weeks ago. A month ago Snail did something and there were no spammers for about 2 weeks. Hope they can do it again at lauch. They are irratating.

;) The thing is, I understand how a new player, maybe a player accustomed to western p2p, or b2p games could be given the wrong impression.

It's not game breaking at all, but it's like graffiti all over a marble wall.

Yeh I'm on my 2nd attempt with this game and my blacklist is filling up quick.  However, some of those gold spammers are crafty and are sending /tells as "anonymous".   I havn't figured out how to blacklist or block those yet.

If you're talking about the purple text, those aren't tells, that's the Gossip channel. I can't help you out with blacklisting those, as I haven't tried to block anyone on that channel. I'm going to assume you can leave that channel just like any other. Nothing good ever happens on that channel anyway, so I see no harm leaving it.

If you're talking about the private message box, then I'd like to know who thought it was a good idea to let people send anonymous messages.

Oh there is a Gossip channel?  Yeh I assumed it was a /tell with the purple text. Next time I log in I will try to just leave the channel then. Thanks

So many MMOs use purple text for tells, so I'm sure plenty of people coming to this game will think those are whispers. Anyway, glad I could help out. image

    lmao me too.

Really though do newbs even need protection for those first few levels? Low levels are pretty sfe in general. If they didnt have newb protection, there would be no more spammers.

@ about gold selers. i can easily stand them, especially in a f2p game. anyway, i see always bots in games i pay a sub, so i dont have much expectations from a f2p tittle.

i didnt knew about this game until some days ago. watched some things about it and now i can say i m anxious to play it. if only is as good as it looks :)

There is no reason for the spammers to exist without being punished by the player base. They should allow the players to police themselves, and take care of the annoying players in their own way. It seems like everytime players are protected in some way, it turns to be worst than if they weren't.
  • goosiegoosie Member UncommonPosts: 69
Well, they exist because "gamers" (and I use that term loosely) continue to enable RMT companies by throwing money at them in order to pay2win.
