The smothest launch ever for a MMO game.

IsturiIsturi Member Posts: 1,509

Man let me tell you yesterday I got on Defiance made my toon and started playing prepared for some kind of hang up or something and to my great delight nothing. Im up to 90 in EGO and lots of players in the game helping out. Love the Ark events. This game by far has been one of the smoothest if not the smoothest launches I have ever been a part of.

Thanks Trion for such a smooth ride.image

This is the third post I have seen that stated the defiance launch was yesterday. I thought the release was today April 2nd? Thats what the Steam client said.

Not sure this is positive... as far as it goes with a mmo launch, smooth = unpopular.

In other words, there weren't enough people interested in the game to stress the servers, which is gonna happen no matter what when tons of people log on at once.

Still kinda good news that the game is running without issues.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

I thought GW2 was incredibly smooth out of the gates as well, so pleased to hear this is going well. I'll be diving in after work. Weekday releases... not meant for the working man. Sigh...

    Oderint, dum metuant.

The ninja launched it on us. A lot of people found out quick though lol. The game was packed. Was nice to see the launch go fairly smooth with the load it had.

I don't play Defiance, but I wanted to add, that it's made by Trion. Rift also released very smoothly. Trion must have a trick ^^

I agree the release is fairly smooth, so far nothing really worth mentioning other then.. pretty much every single pre-order item is missing.

Odd I got all mine. Should just be able to press P for menu Then you will see a tab on the bottom that will be called CLAIM click on that. You should have so much stuff you cant carry it all.image

If that dont work find a vendor then try P again.

thats what I did, Im am 100% certain they'll deliver these perks sooner or later. And like I said it isnt even really worth mentioning.

Game is great and despite the crowds at some places is running perfectly fine, even when playing on the US servers for the EU.  Imo its more then worth its money.

For every person that says  launch has been very smooth there are equal number of people who would say otherwise. Where as when it came to Rift the agreement about its smooth launch was unanimous.

So far it looks like a mixed bag and not up there with Rift's launch quality.

Rift? Smooth launch? That's not how I remember it... Last second patches. Every server was full with day long queues, then when you finally got in they'd restart them for some vague reason or your client would just crash randomly. I think my guild changed servers three times before finally settling on a newly opened one. Sounds pretty typical actually... This was during the early start though, the "real" launch for anyone who actually cared about the game.

The biggest and most talked about issue during launch was its queues. From where do you think trion got its reputation? yes you guessed right from almsot a flawless MMO launch right up there with LOTRO. Not saying people didn't have other troubles but atleast players were not crashing at broken launcher which wouldn't even download the game.

Defiance is not even close to Rift in terms of quality launch.
