Thanks for finally coming clean in that regard, as it is clearly possible.(contrary to your previous statements)
Any gains made while AFK is a definate advantage, while not optimal.
Even if we still had the hungry macro'ers, having a macro'd advantage with the role system would merely give more options, rather than an outright advantage, but it isn't, its UW and it's no longer necessary to worry about these issues.
So why is everyone so excited about getting 50K free prowess if it doesnt matter? Saying prowess doent give you an advantage is laughable. Did you really just say that?
Its so players can test a variety of roles at once, rather than focusing on a single role which has been the case so far and mostly for those that are waiting for launch. You do realize that most peek into a beta, rather than putting in the effort that they will once the game goes live...
How can you say prowess doesnt give an advantage though? That's beyond absurd!!! How can the one thing used to better/progress your character not give an advantage? Have you played DFUW?
Thats like saying gaining levels in another MMO doesn't give your character an advantage over lower levels.

You're the one making a big deal about macroing, saying the advantage is going to be huge, but that isn't the case anymore and even if someone manages to macro a mob, how long do you think that will last before someone comes along to rain on their parade.
It will take the average player a couple of weeks to be viable in whatever role they choose to begin with, after that progression grows steadily tougher as it should, what with this game being an MMO, not BF3, so your points are plainly moot about someone having an advantage with prowess.
Hancake, if you have been playing beta then you know very well that macroing is not viable. Yes, you CAN do it, but it isn't really going to give you an edge, because gaining prowess largely requires you to be doing the sorts of things that require you to be at your keyboard. Tell you what- you go ahead and macro and keep track of how long it takes before you are ganked and your stuff taken while you are AFK.
I feel a little bit like I'm feeding a troll here, but oh well.
Hum if they release dungeons there were always spots where you could macro. If the prestige comes from killing mobs, it should be easy to macro. Hopefully they removed clan lock boxes so the entrances are not blocked off:)
Played DF1 and duping/exploiting ruined that game for me and many others.
A simple question - have Aventurine fixed these issues or will it be a repeat of first game where cheaters got lightyears ahead of the fair players? Both skills and rescources.
And what is Aventurine pollicy towards cheaters? Will they act towards them or do just about nothing as they did in DF1? The Mercs is a good example of Aventurine doing nothing.
During the beta there were many dupes and exploits that made it through with most patches. Many of them the SAME from DF1. With so many features being added after release, you can be assured it weill be a mess.
Some players claim to still be able to crash the server and perform other more game-breaking exploits,
Since DF:UW is designed specifically for large guilds, you can understand why Ripper (and other Mercs who are financially invested into this game) are doing what they have been doing the past 9 months.
Would be a shame if game get destroyed by dupers/exploiters.
This is from someone calling himself an exmerc, wether it's any truth in it i dunno but i can think of it as legit since i experienced their double damage early on EU1 and their duped hi-end boat when all else had rafts-
That is simply not true and you really should stop contradicting yourself if you want to make a point.
It's not a viable way to level up a character... simple as really.
Given the example you posted. Gaining prowess while you sleep or work is a bonus, period! SInce most peopl can't play 24/7, it is a viable method to agument active gaming. But your posts saying you can not do it have proven 100% false.

You can't, you'd be killed or the diminishing returns would take the gains down to nothing. Where you'd suggest people could still macro to get ahead. That's not the case.

Worst part of it is the part where he claims Aventurine knew of it and let it slip.
I hate cheaters especially in competitive gaming, they're just scared little kids that need all advantages to compete.
While there were numerous dupes and exploits during the DFUW beta, those screens shots are from DF1. Alas, its the same code so who knows how it will play out in DFGUW.

yeah the mercs are well known exploiters in every game they have played. It will happen again this time as The Mercs were already found exploiting in beta a few times and not reporting the bugs. Not sure honestly why Ripper hangs out with known exploiters and even hackers like Apoc. Ripper seems like a stand up guy but you better believe his guildmates will be exploiting day one.

Honestly - yes to some extent that is going to happen. Does it happen in other MMO's - yes BUT not nowhere near as bad as it happened in DF. For example, known speed hackers have been in beta running around and still not banned. I am guessing AV has spent so much time trying to release they have not had any time to put in cheat detection which in the first game led to rampant hacking.
Hopefully they will fix that soon; but yes that post is spot on.

"On another topic and to give you some insight on what's happening around Aventurine, today we had a discussion on cheating, exploiting etc. In Darkfall Online while we banned more than a couple of thousand accounts we detected cheating, we never revealed names. We made a decision today to be brutal where it comes to cheating and do it "wall of shame" style, no exceptions and no appeals, besides the banning of all associated accounts, we will post the character names - we don't care if it's the account of a leader of the largest Alliance in the game with thousands of players associated with it - he should have known better. Darkfall Unholy Wars is a competitive game and we cannot be lenient with anyone trying to cheat their fellow players. We would like to hear what you think."
they seem like they want to yes, but it took many months last to even be able to detect them. I expect no different this time. Will they eventually, yes. And the mere fact they confirmed they banned thousands when they only had a few thousand people playing shows how rampant the cheating was. They prob will do it right but for a while be prepared for a lot of exploiting and cheating....

What a joke!!! The Wall of Shame only goes to show AV knows hacking and exploiting will be an issue, so this is their answer? This is going to do nothing to deter anyone, plus its a reactive approach. If AV could properly secure and police their game it wouldnt be needed.
If banning wasn't a deterant, you think putting the name of an alt on some silly list is going to make any difference?

The point being you could macro fishing for different tiles lets say but then...
1.) Tile could be empty
2.) You could get ganked
3.) Diminishing returns will quickly bring your prowess gain down to almost nothing
You could do this macro all night and then wake up in the morning and get same amount of Prowess from PvEing for 10 minutes.
This would also have to be a complex macro that knows where to go to each fishing spot w/o hitting objects/mobs/people.
So no you can't macro prowess up.
