wasn't this game hyped enough yet? Soon I'll probably even find toiletpaper with news about that game.
At the start I was interested (although I (personaly) didn't and still don't like the style (graphics) of the game), but no I'm really getting sick of it. That'll make sure I'll never ever play it.
It's gameplay is ok and quality is up to Blizzard standards (I loved playing a few of 'em) but it's just getting a bit to much of info for this one product!!!!
Good marketing guys, but slowly I'm wondering how much your paying the mag's out there for publishing those reviews (especially how much reporters actually like that game). If other games (AND THERE ARE OTHER GAMES OUT THERE BTW) would get paid half the attention then I'd be a happy (and well informed) MMORPG gamer.
In the meantime I'll be waiting for the day I hear the WoW Soundtrack in the Mall...

WoW has lots of hype, people who play the game, and people who want to play the game. So what's the problem? Reading things about WoW? Now half of the topics I read so far on WoW this week isn't all that great, becuase it shows how some don't go to the official site to obtain infomation rather than opinions (newbies made the topics, but i never said nothing is wrong with newbies).
If you think that was bad, you should have been here 9+ months ago. There was constant wars about WoW and EQII. People who played, people who want to play, haters, fanboys, and people who just want to flame all joined in. I was stopped though. I think the newbies kept it going with the simple questions "WoW or EQII" .
I wonder what I was doing when I was a noob on MMORPG.com

RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
Dunno.. you where posting poll's in various discussion boards?!?!?
Well you see when a game has the most players playing it and the largest market share in NA its gonna be talked about twice as much as any game because well....... it has twice as many ppl playing it as any other game(in NA and Europe, dont wanna get the Lineage ppl ralled up, gotta wait a few weeks to take over Asia).
Hmmm... maybe an example... the gamers mag I read has been writing about WoW 5 months before it hit the market. When I say writing I actually mean 1 Image on the cover, at least 2 full pages in the mag itself... various editor notes on the last pages as well to top things off...
now, since the game hit the market I don't even have to have seen the new cover because I already know that some stupid orc face is going to be on it... headline "WoW's secret weapon's over burgandy" or whatever (crappy excuse) so they could write about again and again. I stopped buying "Famestar" (name edited) now because of that. Did you ever see journalists write up that many lines for any other game to date? Or, do you think no other game was ever that good that it earned that attention WoW is getting?
No wonder everybodies getting WoW... at the moment it's a big big big promised game that doesn't seem to have any competition worth writing as much about... (good marketing)
The other side of the coin... all the kiddies are playing WoW, letting the mature players have their peace...
Well, i am not sure if WoW is the best game ever released. Prolly it isn't (at least not now, maybe in couple years), but it is THE Mmorpg that broke the barrier Mmorpgs/Rest of the gaming world.
It, seemingly, brought really a lot of people to MMorpgs that, before, were not even close to the idea to buy one. And this new blood do not just come from the RPG market, but from all over the Gaming market. So suddenly, what was a niche market with good promise for the future thanks to an aggressive system that completely (or almost) deny any forms of piracy has become THE promise.
What Everquest started, WoW finished so to speak. Now the oyster is open for the taking for who will be good enough to get to it.
That being said, 10 months of articles on a single game does seems a lot But hey. it is just 2 pages, so just ignore them if you really can't stand them.
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
WoW is a terrible game and the only reason people still play it is becuase they are the "noobs" that dont know anything else out there is better. WoW in my opinion would be listed below SWG. WoW has potential, but i dont think it will ever reach that because they arent putting out enough content at a fast pace to keep gamers interested. If im paying you monthly, at least put out a update every two weeks or one each month. and major content updates every 3 or 4 months. sure they tell you they are planning on putting in stuff, but when? do i have to pay you monthly so you can just plan? i can plan too, and i plan on leaving.
I'll have to (ignore those articles) I guess.. hehehe
only feeling scammed by the papers I liked reading... well one thing I'm going to do is keep an eye is watching that bubble pop when many gamers don't find what they've been looking for... (risky try from Blizzard for the next fiscal period to keep those promises) Only thing I hope for is that those ppl try out other games instead of leaving the community.
your right about the new gamers that WoW attracted though...
Are you sure?
I'm certainly no noob and I play it because it's fun.

Here's a piece of sound advice: stop reading things about WoW.
What the hell do you think I'm talking about? It's nearly impossible not to run into WoW reviews (part 1764 of ?)...
apart from that: Good idea Batman
Even if you don't want to hear about Wow, the sheer number of subscribers that they brought in has forced alot of mmo's to respond. So if other games are getting off their butts and pushing content and being more competitive (*cough* eq2 *cough*), you have Wow to thank for that.
That's a good point...
That means games mag's will be twice the pages if they give others the same credit... (yippee!)
No it is not!
The only reason and i mean only reason WoW did so well was that they attracted thousands of players that had never played an MMO before, and they did this with the name, nothing else.
Nothing about the game is extraordinary, the game added absolutely nothing new to the genre, so why is it so popular? The name. Nothing more.
Most people tend to play games they enjoy. I don't see the average Joe paying $15 a month because of the name on the box.
It works in the music business... (not monthly but you get the point)... I think slak was right there
Okay :P poor you heres something too make your more crazy :P
WoW is World of Warcraft based on Warcraft Series Its a mmorpg that costs 15 each month :P
Ar you crazy yet :P
Omg i dont know what to write
OMG!!!

actually I'll try to keep that in mind Sigmund...
this thread and it's poll was meant as a discussion (guess I don't have to explain how it works do I) about how others think about it etc. Stop flaming... if you don't have anything else to say hit another thread
(btw I'm offline for now, feel free to beat the *beep* out of my reply while I'm gone)
I think you do need to explain what you think a "discussion" is. Dissenting views from your own are a part of a "discussion", yet you are demanding that they be excluded from this "discussion" and label them "flaming".
You want to engage in a "discussion?" Learn how to deal with objections by arguing the merits of your point rather than attacking anyone who opposes.
A lot of people should follow this principle, including some moderators.
Why start a thread about a topic you dislike reading about? Makes no sense unless...
well we all know what that's called.
