Originally posted by Normandy7 I pledged $110.00 because I belive this game can be successful long term as a niche game. Burned too many times on overhyped big publisher mmos. It is time to think small and go from there.
At least he has some good games in his portfolio.
Warhammer Online (died because of EAGreed),
And Dark Age of Camelot.
But looking at pledge, the daily pledge is far from the goal 7k pledged, needs 44k a day.
Nothing, until I see more. Anyone can talk about what they re going to or want to do. I think if there was less talk and more for people to see what they re putting money down on, this would be already be funded. I think the amount of people willing to put money down now, is dwindling or see it as I do.
I am one of the bigger fans you ll find for DAOC, and still sub to it from time to time. That said, I just dont want to put money down on something I know very little about, or at least seen some of it.
Yeah that is one of my cornerns. I kind of think he is asking way too much upfront for a niche game. If he did 1.5 mill I would feel a lot better about it being funded.
Marks blogs running up to the kickstarter campaign made me want to back this.
Everything he says makes sense for a PVP RVR game.. so I backed $50 i consider that about average for a good game..
I know its a long way off but at the end of the day there is currently no game on the market i want to play so I had no issues putting $50 towards it..
Because of kickstarter we are going to get some awesome games over the next few years..
I'm not going to pledge $10k. But this idea, if it does come to fruition in a game, is probably worth a mere $110. It's still a bit of a gamble, but it's better than playing the lottery. In terms of raw $, the $110 pays directly for the game (50), 2 extra months of sub (30), with an extra $30 for early access/extras. So, not bad.

Would putting down $1 or $5 kill you, to show you're interested enough to want to hear and especially see more?
I pledged $110.00 because for the price the package was really sweet and I honestly believe that CU could possibly be an awesome and fun game that I can enjoy for years to come. Heres to hoping it gets funded.
Yeah the poll is going to be way off. People who didn't pledge are hitting options just to see the results. Check the kickstarter page I guess if you want clear stats on that. Or put a new poll up with -
$0, I hate kickstarter and think this game will suck or never get completed.
I pledged what I could afford to give. Why? Not because I like pvp. At least not the pvp that I hear some of you talking about. I see no point in running around in circles just looking for someone to kill for realm points, a purple weapon, to jump on their corpse, what have you. I need a reason to kill. A realm to protect and help prosper.
DAoC Midgard was my home for many years. I have very fond memories of the early days. The pride and comraderie. The community spirit. Mass exodus of a dungeon when the call came that one of our keeps was under attack. The whispers of a relic raid in the works. Running in that relic raid and looking in front and behind me and seeing hundreds of my fellow realmmates all working towards the same goal. I remember as a young healer who was and still is, directionally challenged, heading out into our frontier alone trying to learn my way to the keeps. I remember just getting to one of those keeps when the enemy showed up to attack it and after my call for help on alliance chat our own forces coming to the rescue. I remember my late husband complaining because, once again, I made him go out and beat on a keep door. lol
This is what I'm looking for and why I am backing MJ. I know this is not going to be DAoC 2. But I'm banking on him to recreate that sense of Pride, Comraderie and Community. I want to come home.
$110 because I want to see this game made. I yern for some good 3 faction warfare and actual crafting that makes a difference. There are enough WoW clones already we don't need more.
well after WAR i dont have much faith in this guy and i have even less in him since he cant even provide us with 1 iota of material he has. be in concept art or even a screen shot. his ideas are so broad its laughable.
he bsaically makes it seem like its everything to everyone....with RvR yet he shows no contcrete plans

he bsaically makes it seem like its everything to everyone....with RvR yet he shows no contcrete plans - I'm not sure what you're trying to say here, because from day one MJ has made it very clear that his game is by design a niche game that will NOT be for everyone (hence the term niche), and he would consider a subscriber base of 30 - 50k players a success. There are also some concrete plans in the FPs he has published. They are just concrete plans of what he will not do vs. what he will.

No, it won t kill me, but I also don t hand a dollar to someone on the street because they say they can play a guitar, when they start playing it, i ll give a few dollars. See thats my point, anyone can say anything, until I see it, i ll hold off giving my money to them. It s not that I can t afford it, It s just principle to me.
Do I want this game to release, sure, but i m not going to get all upset if it doesn t either.

A perfectly valid and understandable point of view. I hope you keep a watch for updates and something comes along that will intrigue you enough to *want* to donate instead of donating because of the rest of us bums. :P

That should weed out some of the trolls.
Haters got to hate ^^
I was thinking about doing the same

I put in $110, because I'm too poor to put in $10,000.
Tri-realm PvP with buildable keeps, villiages or whatever. Capturable by other realms, that can either destroy, or just capture it for their own...
Crafting class, forced social interractions, no auction house or instance queues...
Siege weapons, leveling from PvP, Developers that will actually interract with players...
Realm pride, guild pride, player reputation matters...
All reasons I funded, and would fund more if I had the $.
