Why do people feel the need to come on and mae a post to warn us about Defiance? Do other MMO forums on this site get the same kind of warnings? For me Defiance is prob one of the best MMOTPS games to date and I am very much looking forward to the 15th to see how the game and the show works on the same time should be cool.
I just dont understand why all the warnings though. For me a warning is "Danger road out ahead" I do not see the need for people to give us grown adults warning in how to spend our money on a game and I do belive any gamer if they dont like the game they should just move on and let people enjoy the game. Makes me wonder if all these people who are warning us are getting paid to warn us about Defiance.
I for one love the game and comming from a EX WoW player that says alot. Defiance has done just that. Trion and SY FY has in Defiance to the MMO world will be given us entertainment on a new level. I for one enjoy the breath of fresh air in my MMO world. Oh I have a feeling that Trion knows acactly what they are doing with Defiance. A job well done.
Thank you Trion Worlds. And thank you SY FY for a job well done.

Maybe it's because this is touted as a MMO when in fact in it's current form it is a single player game played online. There are co-op maps but so far I have only gotten thru one completely due to crashes for me or some of my friends. It was so bad we stopped trying. The chat system is horribly broken and they should be ashamed that a big part of what makes MMO's atttractive, doesn't work. I will give you the fact that the game is original and can be fun at first but later on after you complete the main storyline quest (which is horribly short) the game turns into a repetitive monster where you play the same missions over and over killing the same 5 mobs scattered over a pretty small map.
Don't even get me going on how many clicks the UI forces you to use just to get most things done, the limited character customization, the limited and poorly implemented inventory system and worst of all how you have to keep changing weapons because they stop earning experience after only a few hours of play. I had to stop using a Legenday weapon because using it cost me the ability to continue leveling my weapon skills. Oh and there isn't any difference in a EGO 10 wepoan and an EGO 1000 weapon.
Same exact thing here. Love GW2, have a lot of fun with Defiance. Hell, our guild even started a Defiance clan. But, there are those afraid that people playing Defiance, or GW2, or <insert game here> won't play whatever game they're really trolling for, therefore they must attack like it'll somehow make their game better.
Oderint, dum metuant.
Maybe because Defiance is advertised and represented on this site called MMORPG.com, while at the same time it's not actually a MMORPG? Shouldn't potential buyers be informed on product specs?
It isn't haters trying to tell you what to enjoy. It's people that tried the game and found it lacking in several areas. They are trying to help others avoid spending money on a game that has limited appeal to a small majority of players that find it ok to pay $60 for a mediocre game. Some people will thank them for their warnings and others like the numerous fanboys that believe everything is perfect will beat their drums to detract from the reall issues this game has.
But even teh rosiest of glasses can't make a dog turd look like a filet mignon.
Thanks for the heads-up & warning about warnings. I guess at the very least if there is enough warnings and polarization, then something is amiss.
I guess I'll wait for it to go on sale on Steam for $5.

Recognize the voice? Yep sounds like Penny Arcade's Extra Credits.
I am enjoying the game. Have cleared through quest content a few days ago and doing arkfalls and co-op missings and fiddling with weapons currently.
Two complaints I see having most weight include amount of content and combination of chat interface and voice.
Content complaint holds less water as the game will be keeping pace with the show (I don't think alot of people understand that). So instead of the game being a race to finish, it is a staggered race. Currently however, I'm not sure if the content following the show will be free or paid and the thought of having the possibility of a weekly DLC to keep pace with scares my wallet.
The communication complaints are spot on. The chat interface is cumbersome. You cannot send tells to friends. The only setting for voice chat is OFF (which is awesome). I don't think people seem to realize that it is always on. The crap that I've had to hear before I can get voice chat back off is irritating.
I hope you are right when it comes to the content but lets face it, the content at launch is kinda short. Do you realistically think the updates (DLC) will add much more gameplay that we got at launch? Personally I'm not holding my breath. Oh and the weekly mission updates will be 1 or 2 missions at most which will take all of 10 minutes to complete.
Considering it's buy to play, no subscription and a mostly cosmetic shop I'd suspect you'd have quite a wait there.

Lost me on that one, cause when i look around and seen crap loads of people in the same area i kinda think Im in an mmo. Isnt wow a single player game now to through like 70% of game. The last part doesnt bother me at all either. Can think of another game (wow) that progressed the gear to fast and now you have these insane stats on items that make everything obsolete with each patch or xpac. i hope they take it slow with gear myself. But then I done chase every shinny carrot out there like some.
How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike?
I got a case of beer and a chainsaw waiting for me at home after work.
He's just being consistent. To make a post based on some semblance of reality would go against his entire post history.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

TY for being a fan.
Your posts drive me nuts, but you're a good egg, Isturi.

Hehe nice response to the dickheads who have to trawl through ppl's previous posts to try to make some obtuse point.
You've no sense of humor, AwDiddums.

lol I kind of figured. Your a good egg also, Lok
But it is a honest thread. Someone should ask why? Just figure I will.
I haven't noticed it with Defiance, but it seems to vary by title. I think one thing that plays heavily into warnings is the reaction of those that enjoy a game. Here are two opposite ends of the spectrum...
GW2 - lots of people got rabid on both sides prior to release, basically each side fueling the other side in a hellstorm of GW2 love/hate.
Age of Wushu - A person could write the most insane tirade against that game and you'd probably get either "Well, not every game is for everyone" or a constructive explanation from most of the game's fans here. Their general civility leads to less reaction on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Its just like all the GW2 fanbois over-exagerating their game or the CU kickstarters running on and on with praise over a game that isn't even out and won't be for 2 years+ that who knows how it will turn out.
People make conclusions quite early on and once its made, they will push it over and over. Its never a good conclusion either, its always an extreme one and they want to push that all you like a plague, whether its hating on a game or loving a game like its the 2nd coming of Chuck Norris.
Unfortunately for this game people are levatating to the hate, giving it no chance and ignoring facts to push out 'negative' points , a good example being the 'short length' which considering its a Show Tie In that has been announced as running in unison with the show its suppose to have updates regularly to reflect those advancements in the main story which has been even stated.
None the less, its got its series of issues but like all games, play it for yourself and judge. You will often find a game is either less good then fanbois state or better then what haters troll about it being.
finaly i got my casual shooter mmo
thank you !
LOL giving it no chance? The game has so much potential but because they chose to ignore everyone from Alpha and all 3 betas they are paying the price. This game has been broken long before it went live and while Trion knew it they pushed it out the door anyway simply because the TV show was about to air. Almost every single issue and bug people are complaining about has been present since Alpha. This game is being sold as a MMO when in fact due to the severe issues with the chat system and overall lack of multiplayer content it can only be described as a single player game that is played while online.
Do I think they will fix the game? Yeah some of it I'm sure but the fact that this is supposedly so closely tied to the TV show and SyFy has a track record of cancelling shows so they can play more hours of wrestling, I think the game is destined for failure inside a few months. So enjoy the game while you can fanbois I'm pretty sure it won't be here for long.
