How about having a DF that unlocks rarer resources but also over time gives a small combat bonus to your realm.
For example; A 1% Magic/Physical damage output per day up to 5 days for your entire realm. After 5 days you will have a 5% Magic/Physical damage bonus. This will mean DF won't be for crafters alone but any PvPers as well. Now image the effort your realm will put towards holding DF after you hit that 5% bonus and in turn will put pressure on the other realms to actually try and win it back. This type of scenario would show a very active battleground.
I'm not sure damage bonuses like that would be wise. Obvious balance issues could result. Dominant realm would often be that much stronger, etc etc.
DAOC had the realm bonuses and it worked out. You just have to get the realm pride involved. then you can gather the forces and it keeps switching hands. there was very few servers where 1 realm had it a lot.

Something like an XP bonus would be better, imo.
That's the beauty of the 3 realm system, this is when you see 2 realms join forces. Makes for some interesting gameplay experiences.

DF was same way....except it was tokens, drops that you vied for......now with crafters being pushed into an ever increasing role, it's only right that some realm vs. realm conflict be centered on their existence
I like the concept, but like Easy, I think it has to be the source of Dragonium rather than the place you go to forge it.
I would really like to see an entire underground zone that has entrances to several (at least three) other zones, with PvP control points that open up mine shafts for resource gathering. The zone could be many connected caverns that are maze-like and you have no compass while in it, have to provide your own light in some/many/all places, and has an underground lake or river (assuming there will be underwater swimming in the game).

Aaaaagghhhhh, NO.......NO underwater movement!!
Damn, there goes tonight's update. JK.
There won't be any "Jacques Cousteau" adventures in CU but if a tank in full plate falls into the water, it will certainly seem more like "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea".
I didn't mean to open up the whole Ariel's Adventures topic with my underground lake comment. It was more of a terrain feature idea. As far as underwater swimming, I only meant that you could go below the surface for limited time, as opposed to the WAR system where you are always on the surface. As a naval architect and avid sailor, I'm actually more interested in what kind of boats there will be, although I suspect the answer to that is none.
I think it would be nice if we get a Darkness Falls type dungeon. It would cool if it were a dragon's den, a lair where the beast resides. A labrynth of tunnels and traps, pitfalls, and levers which you will need everyone working together to push onward, with hideous creatures along the way, not to mention bandits who are there as well to slay the dragon and claim their fortune and the head of the ancient beast.
Plenty for the solo'ers, the groups, the raids to do.

This sounds pretty fun! A classic dungeon with an RvR twist and group elements - I like!
