Are we going to try and fit every non-FPS shooter that has a multiplayer feature on this site?
No, it's a third person online shooting game. There is nothing MASSIVE about Warframe. It's 4 guys running around a map. How does that qualify it as a MMO? Simple answer is it doesn't.
Lobby based games with 10, 20, 100 million players are not MMO's, you have to be able to interact with hundreds in the game to be a MMO. Unless you just want an excuse to have a cash shop and get people to fork out their money, then you can call yourself an MMO to try and justify it. Nice try but we're wise to that trick.
If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.
*shrugs* I remember Adventure Quest being on this sites game list before it was Adventure Quests: worlds (which I still have not tried to figure out if it counts yet). Secondlife is on here as well (not an MMO in the strictest sense but a Virtual world building and exploration platform founded on that age old idea of the 3d internet -in which several devs have created MORPG's). World of tanks is on here too. We're gana start complaining now?
Diablo 3 was featured here. That's 5 guys running around. That's what I thought.
Why is Wartune than? It is odd how MMORPG selects which games show up and which don't.
Is all Warframe missing to be a MMORPG is a giant room where people can run around and /dance with each other?
There's nothing odd or random about it. Ever seen an Ad for warframe here ? me either.
Well while i went through the headache of downloading Defiance (see AngryJoe's VLOG rant) i happened across Warframe. HOLYSHIT what a great game this is, Trion should take a note from this small Dev team and try a little harder with Defiance.
I do not think there is enough Multiplayer in Warframe to warrant a listing on MMORPG.com, but it should be on the sister site thats all about shooters. I think it is but i have not checked.
I cannot believe this game is not the talk of the gaming circles.
If your on the fence Download it, its free and make sure to read the warframe wiki before you get too deep into it, helps alot.

I understand the question because lets face it this website has Defiance covered and not even the official website acknowledge it's a MMO but they call it a futuristic online open-world shooter.
But since Defiance is here instead of on FPSGuru .com we might aswell start putting Battlefield and similar online games here too.
Lets face it when the word MMO is trown in most experianced MMO gamers have certain expectations and rightfully so.
When a gamer hears online shooter doesn't he know for a fact it's gonna be a online game that you shoot in? Oh cool I also can do tasks/quest in this game, develop skills, a bonus for a shooter right?
Personaly I don't want these online shooters on the MMORPG section of this website, they are just the evolved state of your normal multiplayer FPS games of the old and belong in case of this website on FPSGuru.com Again just my opinion.

There's a global chat and you can play board games like chess with anyone you please, therefore it is indeed an MMO.

Why no Warframe?
I think Warframe should be here. It is a good game (which is irrelevant) but the playstyle is no different than D3, PoE, GW, and even how many play WOW.
You log in, click a button, then grouped with some other players into a PvE instanced "dungeon".
