unique area specific music is difinitely a big part of immersion.

to this day, I still get chills and tons of memories flood back when I hear the newbie area music from ardee/magmell in hib, and camelot hills in alb. I don't remember where you used to start as a troll in mid, but that was good starter music too. felt like you were starting right in the middle of war drums.

I also hope there are a lot of varied environments too though.

    grassy plains

    forests

    rolling hills

    mountains

    deserts

    coastal type regions

    lakes/rivers

    cliffs

    canyons

    ravines

    sinkholes

snowy versions of any of the above

now that I think about it, weather effects of EVERY kind..light rain, pouringrain with thunder/lightening, snow, blizzard, FOG is an awesome one, also maybe some way to implement WIND?

I do think mob camps shouldn't be TOO sparse.  They could add a level of strategy to all actions in the Frontiers.  It doesn't have to be for XP gain, but rather for strategic purposes... I used the Piper Faeries in Hadrian's to great effect when fighting Bonedancers and other pet classes (I actually solo'd Hryggr using them and he claimed I was the only stealther to beat him 1v1.  I never could have done it or even come close without those faeries.)

    EDITTED for clarity and spelling

Hryggr was a force beyond realism.  He use to kite realm guards just so you couldn't CC his pets.  (We where in the same guild, actually met him in RL once when hanging out with Erdan...Hryggr was a...character).

Wolvan, Hryggr was outside our Mile Gate in Hadrian's.  I snuck behind him on the hill side near the Piper Faeries and shot is lead pet (can't remember what it was called.)  Hryggr was out of range so he couldn't DD me, yet.  I used my speed shout and ran back around the faeries, dragging Hrygger's pets through them.  Hryggr chased but couldn't see what was happening around the hillside until the faeries had made fairly short work of his pets.  By this time, I had restealthed and the faeries had aggro'd on Hryggr, himself.  I repositioned on the hillside, got another arrow in him (he immediately DD'd me and interrupted my next shot even with a flock of Piper Faeries on him... man, he was good) and then I proceeded to melee him down, with the help of the faeries, of course.  It was one of my proudest moments.

Now, imagine using terrain, weather AND mobs in battles like that or larger scale battles... epic!

I'm excited to even start seeing a few particle effects thrown into the very early version of the engine - I have my fingers crossed that there will be rain and fog and lovely strategic terrain. :)

Aside from revisiting environments we would see in DAoC, I'd like to see them take advantag of new technology and have new atmospheric places.

Truly dense forests and swamps.  I think massive RvR battles in such an environment would be a cool change of pace from the typical open grassy zones we had seen before.  Limited visibility, obstacles built into the terrain, etc.

Real mountains would be awesome too.  Not hills, mountains.  Potentially scouting certain activities from above..
