My review of Age of Wushu

I recently posted this in General Discussion, but I figured it could be useful here so I'll repost it:

I played it for two months and just recently sold my account.

It's definitely an interesting game.  Lots of new things I've never seen in an MMO (spying on schools, script stealing, no pve leveling, etc).  The combat was kind of clunky and is more tactics than twitch.  Server lag could be an issue at times.  Translation and clunky interface is also an issue...but you can eventually get used to it.

The reason I quit, though, was because I had to dedicate 1-2 hours of my day doing my daily chores: Running 5 spy missions (at least an hour), 2 Team practices (30 minutes), setting up my stall on my alt (have to refresh it every 4 hours).  You have to run the spy missions to get the money necessary for crafting (along with getting ceritificates necessary to level high level skills).  You have to do the Team practice every day because that is the absolute best way to 'level' your character.   After a while, both just become a daily chore.

I also had to fight for stall time in the main city.  I sometimes had to spend 15 minutes trying to set up a stall and timing it for when someone gave up their slot because there were only a certain number of slots available.

The only truly outstanding part of the game is the script stealing.  It really gets your heart racing and its one of the most fun things I've done in an MMO.

The crafting is okay and I like how a lot of it is random.  Unfortunately it takes 2 months to become a max level crafter and its hard to compete until then.  Still, I did well playing the market, making lesser crafting comps and buying/selling stuff.  I really like how the game had buy orders.

If you are going to try it though, you should really put a solid month into it with a VIP account.  If you don't have VIP, then you can only play an hour a day, you don't gain cultivation (exp) while you are offline, etc.  You are really gimping yourself.  Live a little: spend the $10 and see how you like it.

I've done one spay mission ever. That was on launch day to get more of my third internal. My time is better spent elsewhere. You should do Team Practice everyday. I didn't today. I just ran out of time, no biggie.

True it take a long time to be a top crafter, even then you wont know how to do everything. You go to this guy who does good work for this, and that other guy for that. This is one of the better aspects of the game to me. All crafters are different. This aint about me though :p

The 1 hour restriction was only through beta.

Short and sweet review, just a couple things.
