Or just give me some wings. ;D

Interesting, if they can find a use for them other than flying, I'd be very intrigued. However, as someone pointed out on the kickstarter; anatomically the placement of the wings atm make absolutely no sense. As an artist myself I'd be very curious to see if someone's come up with an idea on this that I haven't thought of already.

Is it "storm," "sturm," "strim," or something else? I have heard the first three already.

So, to close my little rant, the name sucks, but the race itself is really cool and has a lot of potential. I was not initially sold on the wings being attached at the lower back, as that is an illogical place for wings to evolve due to the lack of proper musculature to flap them, but then I said to myself, "Well, it looks cool, is unique, and it is fantasy, so let it slide." And I did.

Oh, but the name, I am not letting that slide. ;)

Aes, I am an artist, too - and I admit to being intrigued by the placement of the wings. :)

Sornin, Andrew confirmed in the livestream last night that the name "St'rm" is definitely temporary. :)

  • It looks cool, but the wing placements seems rather awkward. I think it would look better if the wings were moved to the upper back or something like that.

    Viking currently is my favourite.

I like the wing placement. It shows that the art direction is
aiming to be striking, and it adds a cool aesthetic to an already
    visually-striking race.

THEORY INCOMING: the wing placement is functional lore wise
and gameplay wise: The ST'RM have wings affected by the strange
energies of the broken Veil. Thus, while perhaps once they
could fly, now their wing size and placement allow them short
    duration LEVITATION ability. Calling it.

And I here I thought they were just something for them to hold onto during mating.

    You stay sassy!

The wings might just give them an incredible “leap” capability.  Just enough lift in the leap to bypass a shield wall or leap on the keep’s walls.

This so intrigued me when I saw the video I tracked down this thread. Why wings on the hips? It is different but different can be just odd, and here it is just odd.

It is hard to see how those wings could have evolved or been created.

But that's my only criticism of the entire game so far so keep up the good work.

If they move the wings i'll definitely be disappointed, I love lower back wings and this is the first mmo I've seen use it. But yeah, this race is the epitome of awesome, if they change the name im still calling it a st'rm lol.

    Very interesting race http://camelotunchained.com/v2/realms/arthurians/strm/

With many of today's MMO's some of the more unique races are often those "cute" ones. This one seems to be a little more darker. But there are also plenty of other mmo's with very unique races. Just this one is pretty cool and I like.

Still not sure about the game though but keeping a keen interest following it's news

I reckon they just suffer from bad farts, and with time those wings have evolved to waft the bad smell away.

I don't think anything is wrong with their name, and there are some very interesting races in the mix. Have you noticed they even have a story written for some of the races. That's the sort of thoroughness in preparation that has been lacking for years now with the odd exception in MMO land.

But I still can't get my head round wings on hips, that's just me.

I am ashamed to say, but I laughed entirely too long at this comment - just seems like a really plausible explanation, because even as a fantasy critter ass-wings just makes no sense (other than "hey we want to do it differently, because nobody has done it before")

Which is a problem I have with most game developers, a true lack of not creativity but the ability to implement features that are actually new and good for the genre.   A good example is, how do we make our game better than game X.  Okay, well just make the swords bigger the explosions flashier, the epics easier to obtain, travel easier, etc.  And we have just made a better game, no? No you haven't.
