"Hey, let us use your forums to garner publicity, if/when we fund the site gets all kinds of exclusives"
Something like that i'd imagine.
The Deep Web is sca-ry.
The OP makes a good point, most of the posts about CU and its KS, are nothing more than adverts.
A creative person is motivated by the desire to achieve, not the desire to beat others.
Money
You talking about peoples sigs who simply do it to support the KS?
How is this different than all the other game sigs everywhere?
How long do you think it will be around seeing the KS ends at a finite date?
I think you needs to relax sir.
You stay sassy!
I think he's referring to the flood of new threads every day, most of them now begging for money.
Though without them, I wouldn't have seen the KS game "Chasm". Definitely pitching in some $ to that product.
Yeah because you wouldn't of seen all the sigs in almost every post regarding the KS.
Just to question the philosophy. Army of Socrates.
I'm sure the sigs are part of people's problem with the CU spam, but the OP didn't mention it specifically. Being on forums for many years now, my eyes tend to ignore sigs completely.
Besides, you can turn sigs off in your Profile.
This is nowhere near the impact GW2 launch had on these forums. Because that was an actual game you could play we immediately saw the elitism come out and cross over onto other boards.
This CU KS duscussion is primarily about fans simply showing support ... and a few whiners who evidently think KS is the biggest scam in the world dispite hundreds of successful product launches from it.
Wait it out and don't worry about it.
You stay sassy!
Yeah thats true, but some of the sigs are very crafty and fun. Can't make myself turn it off >_>
I am curious as well how the CU virus is being allowed to continue. Not to mention all the silly topics peeps made for every little thing that crosses their minds. Topics like the following wouldn't be a stretch of the truth.
"Should CU have blue sky?"
"Will players be able to wear hats?"
"If a tree falls in CU, does it make a sound?"
Obviously these are all made up but to me the majorty of these threads are nothing but spam and useless info and I too am getting sick of sifting through all this crap.
I am extremely confused by this concept that people need to "sift through" posts in a specific subforum for a game they arent interested in. Why would you go to that subforum if you really have no interest?
Its like complaining about the things being shown on TV channels that you arent watching.
Everyone doesn't just come here to visit their specific subforum for whatever game they are playing. Many of the people on this site enjoy speaking on all the game forums, general, the pub and every other forum on this entire site. They like talking about MMORPGs in general. So yes, they do have to sift through silly topics constantly in order to get to the good discussions. I don't see why this is so hard for people to understand. Even if they don't visit the thread they are still reading the topics to see if it is worth joining the conversation.

Omg! How many times must this be said!?
As you can see I have been a member of this site since 2004. My surfing habits have been the same this entire time,
Visit main page, see top forum posts, move onto real time forum listing. I have NEVER drilled down to specific forums nor have I ever used this site for a main source of info for a specific game (that is what the games official forums are for). MMORPG.com all these years have been my main goto for "general" MMO news.
Now CU comes along and now I must change how I use this site completely just because players have decided to use this site to advertise a kickstarter?! I don't have the time or will to sift through every sub forum to attempt to avoid CU spam. YOU ARE ALL MAKING THIS SITE USELESS FOR IT'S INTEDED PURPOSE, general MMO news not a F'ing CU fansite.
How MMORPG.com allows this to continue blows my mind and talk about free advertiseing for CU.... really?!

I have to agree, this begging for money needs to stop.
I like the idea of people being able to fund games on Kickstarter, but constant posts on mmorpg with pleading for "MOR MONIES" is getting redicilous.

for those who seem to struggle with the idea
Glad to see someone else pays attention around here..
Plus this list is, at least in part, updated on the front page, where I usually refresh when I'm bored.
Well, the CU topics part made me laugh and you are right about those
Not the issue - the issue is the constant new threads about the game - when there isn't a game to even look or play? At least with GW2 there was. CU is all smoke and mirrors right now.
This is a very good thread with honest (non-trolling) responses. I hope the MMORPG.com staff will chime in and share their thoughts.
Perhaps, games that aren't even under development (i.e. Kickstarter) shouldn't be given their own subforums until their project is funded?
the gw2 fans also werent creating threads asking us for money to get their game developed.
