Picked this up back when Preorder first came available, checked out the beta and shelved it until launch. Finally got in last night and had a good time, but I can't seem to find alot of information. And rather than head over to the official forums and be trolled to death, I figure I should try here first with a few questions so here they are:
1. Are all weapons viable in this game now. In original I recall daggers being virtually useless in PvP. Is this the same? Are Racial weapons in this or have they been removed?
2. Is sword and board useful? I'm playing a warrior and always like this playstyle. Wasn't very good in 1.0. Has this changed? I realize damage is lower and fight will last longer, but is this a viable setup now or only usefull for soaking up damage while other classes burn in PvP.
3. Any useful sites for information. I use yourmom (who doesnt ), but curious wondering if there is any quality sites out there yet. Looking for useful information like what to spend Prowess on, mob drops, how do I aquire my other role skills, new player tips etc.
4. If there is no usefull info site is there anything I should/should not spend my prowess on to get started? I am trying to avoid hitting diminishing returns with a character with nothing useful and having to grind out enough points or re roll. I currently have only put 25 in mining and enchanting and have few hundred points to spend. I know not much, but I have a wife and kids and intend to play this on the more casual side so thats a days work for me in game and I'll likely only play 2-3 nights per week so I want to avoid poor decisions....
That's about it for questions, overall I have to say I am happy with the new version of the game, I really like the feats and prowess system as well as the safe starter areas, although they seem to be over used for afk farming, but I realize the game is still new.
Thanks,
Jim

My comments in orange.
1)Greatsword seems to be the favorite. Sword and board is viable for Skirmishers because 1 hand damage is determined by Dex.
2)See 1
3)Just check out the official forums. Here is a decent thread.

4)If you want to go strictly PvP. Get the first two boosters for your main stat. Then start putting your prowess into your main stat. After that your weapon, mastery last. There is a thread breaking it down the damage calculations.

Make sure you read through a few pages in that thread^ till you get to the good info. A few of the first posters give suspect advice.
I would avoid putting any prowess into harvesting unless you intend to be a harvester.
Also imo don't put more than 50 into a skill. It just costs to much prowess to be worth it unless you are rolling in prowess. Better to have multiple skills at 50 than 1 or 2 at 100. I'd advise putting transfers to 50, getting the rank 2 str booster and putting points into str so you can wear and use better armor and weapons.
Don't discount harvesting. You can get treasure maps from fishing which will give you a decent amount of gold to start with. Plus there are plenty of harvesting prowess feats to work on.
I want to add an amendment to my earlier recommendations.
If you intend to do lots of semi afk harvesting, it is well worth your time to put at least 50 in the harvesting skills. Fishing especially.
Throw on a movie and harvest while you watch.
