As you all can imagine  Ihavent played it for very long as this demo started yesterday, so this is naturally based on the early levels of the game.

Well..I'm not sure where all the glowing reviews come from , but for me this game felt very bad, cheasy and simply uninspired..

From remembering the countless complains about The Secrets Worlds poor combat and animations, wich I never felt that they were bad, but this combat that is almost the same type but with fantasy weaponry feels like super bad when you compare them. I get  feeling the combat simply is not connecting to the enemies enough..

Furthermore , I get the feeling my character doesn't blend in well in the enviorments, It feels almost as she's cut and pasted ontop of a postcard or something.

The outdoor and vistas are nice looking thou, but alas they are not going to give me a reason enough to go explore the world when the rest of the game feels cheasy and uninspired.

I'm glad I didnt shell out the 60 Euros needed to try this.

TSW is by all counts a far greater product, even TRIONS new Defiance and even RIft feels better than this game.

    Game on !! :))

I think you downloaded Tera by mistake ...try moving and combat at the same time

As I said , It's almost the same combat as TSW, that would indicate that I moved and fought at the same time..

Read this guys post history and you will see he is a troll. I thought this had already been determined.

i peaked through.. didn't see i specific post he said he had played.. saw where he said tsw was a better game but that's about it.. what post did he say he played the game?

It is against TOS to post history but yes he did write long posts abut how the game feels like solo game.  It is there but i had go through it just to make sure because i dislike it when people try to mislead readers .

Ummm, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people you talk to in order to start various questlines. They have that kind of sun icon over them (honestly not sure what it is) and usually start an escort quest of one form or another.

Are you sure you've played the game?

Personally I've been back in GW2 for a bit the last couple of weeks just because. Can't say as I'm any more impressed now than I have been on other attempts to get into it. Combat is repetitive and boring -- basically kite while hiting anything on cooldown. That might be at least somewhat excusable if the skills were at all interesting or I had much meaningful choice in skills -- let's face it, GW1 didn't have the most involved combat either, but the extreme variety of choices meant you could come up with something you liked -- but instead it's like my character is mostly on autopilot.

Meh, whatever, some people like it, good for them. While the OP was clearly trolling, I personally think Anet, like Trion, is ill served by the more rabid -- as in this thread -- elements of the defense force, but that's their problem, and mostly their fault. Believing your own press is rarely a good thing.

I seriously doubt you even logged into the game... I don't even know where to start here. GW2 is graphically so superior to GW1 it's not even funny to list the improvements. Even just the character creation shows the improvement.

Lol ok , I am not even bashing GW2 i am saying that if you wheren't a big fan of Gw1 there might not be enough of a differance for you to fall in love with Gw2 and in my case playing Gw2 made me want to go back and play Gw1.

And i have been following Gw2 for years and been watchign Videos online and readign what peopel have to say... lots of people have had bad things to say abotu gw2... yet i still wanted to try it for myself to see how I feel about it.

Movie reviewers seem to have different opinions of movies then i do a lot of the time.. yet i respect thier opinions and think about what they have to say.. .yet i still watch it and compare what i feel to what they had to say.

There is no point in arguing with him. He, along with others posting here, are far superior in intellect to voice your opinion to. Just because I voiced mine, I am trolling and I have no clue what I am talking about. I didn't even bash the game at all...I just gave an account of my experience and perspective. This site is awesome, but on the other hand, it gets me fired up sometimes because of some of the cruel people that just like to stir things up.

I've found GW2 to be more akin to beer or wine.

At first taste, you don't get the fuss.

But after you have sampled the different vintages, types, etc do you truly begin to see how good it actually is.

    I disagree with this.

Many games I've played initially that didn't grab me, I've picked up later and found them to be absolute gems.

    Examples: Fallout 1, GW1, GW2 to name a few.

I disagree as well. I gave up on WoW and Lotro many times before they finally grabbed me.

I agree with the OP, I bought 2 copies for me and the wife, I played it for a session, and my wife played it for a few sessions, and we haven't loaded it back up.  It felt like a cluttered mess to me, is the best way to explain it.  I just did not like it, and I didn't like any of the classes I played (played beta a little too).

I have thought of going back to try it, but I haven't yet.

Yeah a lot of people say that...thats why i said im probably disenchanted...i find it harder and harder to give games a chance and stick with them over the years.

I have watched videos and read reviews, based upon that I have also been involved in a few posts where GW2 has been mentioned, I don't think I have ever said I played the game, did I ?

I may even ..If I recall correctly ..Gotten abit annoyed of all the GW2 players that came inside the TSW forum and spread all kinds of crap of that game..

Is that forbidden unless you are an active player ?

Furthermore, I have no clue in what I said in discussions that are 2-6 Months old; i don't actually care either, but It seems you do..:)

Since you obviously wanted to target me as some sort of "troll" with your accusations, It seems to me that looking up someone elses post history to prove some sort of conspiracy teory to other posters, is as far as my concern far more ugly that actually partaking in discussions without any real ingame experience of the game in question..

Besides that, we have internet every person can today get great info of a game by just looking at reviews and interviews ..But as far as that goes I have actually felt that GW2 was something to play before I actually played it yesterday, but for some reason the game passed me by (other games got purchased before) ..During release of GW2 I played alot of TSW and that Is one reason I didnt get on the GW2 train

It has nothing to do with being a hater but simply the fact that the game didnt provide anything to make the poster wanna keep playing it. What's the difference if he did only play 5 minutes? There are countless posts about how the game doesnt change up to max level. But assuming the OP did only play 5 minutes to come to his conclusion, that was clearly enough of an indicator that the game didnt have the capability to encourage him to keep playing. Was he supposed to play level after level of disliking it until endgame or until it did became fun for him? Why would he spend more time than is necessary if it isnt giving him an immediate sense to press on? Shouldnt a game draw you in right from the start?

As far as your "suggestion," if anything, his "preconcieved notions" were from glowing reviews of the game; if you actually read what he wrote. So your entire statement about, " I can tell the OP did not and of course his opinon was validated" is moot. If that was true, his "preconceived notion" would have been that of a glowing review; just like he said. Heaven forbid he doesn't like something like GW2.....

Well, if I did play for 5 minutes, then he probably unlocked all of his weapon's skills and hit lvl 25.

The point is back then he kept telling everyone that TSW was far superior to GW2.

Now it turns out he actually never played GW2 until now.

So he jumped into the game for 5 minutes just to tell everyone again that TSW is far superior to GW2.

With so much bias at hand we simply can't take anything he says serious.

It's not correct or incorrect. It's an opinion and we all have them. No game is going to be for everyone but at this point in time (Due to how long GW2 has been out and the fact that it has already been given a glowing approval by most that have played it and sold like hotcakes) if you don't like it then I think its a bit better to simply say it isn't for you, leave your reasons why and move on. Compairing it to games that weren't nearly as successful isn't going to do much but stir the pot.

I play all 4 games myself. Defiance, GW2, TSW, and Rift. For me all 4 are some of the best MMOs to come out in recent years and play each for different reasons.

In any case, if you aren't having fun simply find a game you do enjoy and don't feel bad about it. GW2 will keep chugging right along with or without you.

So let me guess..if i remember your name from months ago when you were heavily active on GW2 forums and had lot to say about grouping mechanics and how game feels a solo fest...and then i read a topic from where you write 'i have never tried the game before' what will be my first reaction?

It is not about trying to accuse you for anything but i had to amke sure that i wasn't wrong. So you are telling me you were all up in the arms without playing the game? i criticise a lot of games but difference is that i atleast play them first extensively.

All your crticism of the game was based on videos and reviews? because you sounded very sure of what you were saying.

So please tell me how anyone can take you seriously now? i would never ever crticise a game on basis of videos i saw and what others say about it.

May i suggest you get the action combat mod? obviously doesn't change the game but atleast it makes the combat a bit more interesting atleast. You will be able to enjoy the game a bit longer with it on

GW2 is a great game for some...not so for others. The problems with GW2 (to name a few):

-When you get to end game and did all the dailies and saved all the Karma points you will have problems getting to npc's to buy armour on some servers because they are not there as the population is too low to re-take Grenth and Balth, and sometimes the other ones. Usually Mel, Lyssa, and Dwayna are cleared at some point (and Arah less and less it seems). So the system is not working as well as it should be.

-Some dynamic events do not scale down very well so you have to skip them unless someone shows up.

-No mounts..not fun when you are on a class (like Mesmer) that does not have a good and consistant speed boost.

    -No land mass expansion planned

-Crafting is laborious and just not worth it in some crafts.

-Sonic periscopes...geez I hate those things. For those of us who do not want to do that story they are a pain. I am avoiding those areas until this even is over.

I said something similar after 1st beta weekend and i got baned for 3 days. Said almost the same when game got out and again i got 3 days ban from the site.

100% agree on your point of view on the game but I would add some more spice but dont want to make additional work to the admins to ban me again.

So the game is cheesy and simply uninspired? Do you care to elaborate? What exactly about GW2 is so cheesy? Cause I never got that feeling while playing it.

From remembering the countless complains about The Secrets Worlds poor combat and animations, wich I never felt that they were bad, but this combat that is almost the same type but with fantasy weaponry feels like super bad when you compare them. I found that combat was okayish. I kind of agree with you on this one. I have never played The Secret World so  I can't comment on your comparison but indeed when I play GW2 I can't feel the impact of my spells/weapons. However, I have learnt to live with this because literally every single MMO I have played is horrible in this regard. The combat is not responsive and impactful. WoW is the only MMO that takes this kind of responsiveness to the next level and it's brilliant how well the animation and combat are done in that game. I have played so many MMOs and they all suck hard in the animation/combat department compared to WoW. The EQ series are horrendous in this regard.

Furthermore , I get the feeling my character doesn't blend in well in the enviorments, It feels almost as she's cut and pasted ontop of a postcard or something.

    I haven't had this impression.

Where do you live? In the UK the game is only 30 pounds, maybe even less. From a quick check it's about 35-40 euros in Germany/France.

TSW is by all counts a far greater product, even TRIONS new Defiance and even RIft feels better than this game.

Not really huge on the heavy negative post, but still will admit a lot of your points are pretty much the same as my gripes.

Combat to me felt WAY like Secret World, though even worst off then it to be blunt. It bothered me a lot when it launched so many people complaiend against TSW combat yet played ignorant to the fact GW2 combat was quite similiar in feeling.

The environments/characters had that same disconnect for me where they just felt out of place, the environments really needing to embrace a bit cartoony style to create more impressive visuals.

Just if you review it, its good to include the good side. Yes, GW2 fanbois seem to praise it as a holy graal and seem to find 'no wrong' with it, but its silly to follow their lines and to see 'no good' (granted you did mention vistas as a partial posative).

The game has some (decent) concepts that do spice things up a little bit more giving more 'static' events (sorry I refuse to call them Dynamic, they aren't) that do give a change up from normal questing (hearts) that are relatively reliable to run into unless you miss out on its start. Crafting had some great ideas in it, even if they weren't fully explored to their potential. Dungeons (ignoring other factors of them) are nice in trying to split up the paths, which in a way pushes for more varied dungeon play if it was elaborated and made better (outside the mess that is dungeon play). WvWvW has potential given its features are fully realized, granted the execution can be quite lack luster in GW2 it does at least push for it. Over-all, no where near 'game changing' as people claimed and not THAT good. Still, its silly to ignore some of the posatives, as it does have a few good ideas and the art style is pretty good outside feeling not full explored for enviornments.

Over-all its good that you tried the game out. As much as I dislike GW2 (particularly because the fanbois) I still always suggest people try a game out a game if possible and give it a chance since you never know.

I really can't tell if people are using this free trial as another excuse to bash the game, or if the trial they were playing was a completely different game.

I understand not liking it, but some of these criticisms make absolutely no sense. For example, saying the combat in GW2 is like TSW's is just... wrong on so many lvls I wouldn't know where to start. Character's don't feel integrated and are like 'paper cutouts' !? wtf.. This also makes no sense to me. Not only are there tons of little details that do the exact opposite, but there' nothing 2d about the character models.

I know some of these people don't even know it, but they're basically trying to argue that a game with objectively better animations, more complex combat, and better graphics; is somehow inferior on all of them because they didn't like the game.
