few questions

1 my favourite mmos are daoc, eve and planetside.  My least favourite mmos are wow and swtor.  What are my chances of liking this game?

2 how buggy is it, is it working pretty well or not?

3 what are populations like?  there wasnt a great fanfare at release, you dont see it advertised anywhere,  i thought it was still in beta

4 are adventurine trusty with your credit card details etc..  has there been any billing cock ups or server hacks?

5 with the new roles system, have they reduced the power gap, is it more eve like in that if you specialise you get good at one role fairly quick, but veterans get more options?  eg.. is it a progression system that starts out mostly vertical but then over time becomes more horizontal

6 how grindy is it.  Is it viable to play say 3 hours a day and not be just cannon fodder?

7 are you forced to use macros and what have you?

Full loot pvp, and a very aggressive community. You will be killed often, and lose all your items on your posession. RIght now it is very difficult to farm pve due to the amount of people roaming or wanting the spawn for themselves. If you dont enjoy dying ALOT to others, and not getting much progression done some days due to it, steer clear.

2 how buggy is it, is it working pretty well or not?      There are some performance problems for alot of users, low fps, and client crashing. AV seems to be actively working on improving this.

3 what are populations like?  there wasnt a great fanfare at release, you dont see it advertised anywhere,  i thought it was still in beta      Population is very large on the servers at the moment. A little too large to get much done. BUT I personally see if dying down alot over the next few months as people get weeded out that arent cut for the hardcore community and full loot pvp.

4 are adventurine trusty with your credit card details etc..  has there been any billing cock ups or server hacks?       I have not seen or heard of this problem with AV yet. As far as server hacks, if you are refering to hacking in game, there are certain clans that have been. But its minimal, and AV is working to ban these players.

5 with the new roles system, have they reduced the power gap, is it more eve like in that if you specialise you get good at one role fairly quick, but veterans get more options?  eg.. is it a progression system that starts out mostly vertical but then over time becomes more horizontal      During beta you could get your character in one role end game pvp ready in about 2-3 weeks of casual play. Since launch with the large increase of players it is taking alot longer due to not being able to complete your feats as quickly, due to pvp. Also gear is very important for classes like warrior, or skirmisher. At the moment it is taking alot longer to get resources to make the better gears also due to the increase of people out harvesting and all the nodes being empty.

6 how grindy is it.  Is it viable to play say 3 hours a day and not be just cannon fodder?    Grindy yes. the better feats (similar to tasks, or quests that pay prowess which you spend to stat up your toon) involve killing 180 of a certain mob. 3 hours a day you will get left in the dust due to lack of gear and character progression. there is a large gap between a 50k prowess character and a 20k.

7 are you forced to use macros and what have you?   Macros are gone!  for the most part, a few for like diggin potatoes or 180 degree turning.

with out going into a ton of detail i can say that you might like the game because is has elements of daoc and eve and UO and shadowbane. It does have a lot of bugs, the graphics are not so good and to feel like you are progressing in the game is at a snail speed. If you can get past all that then it would be a ton of fun, for me I am to impatient and now have less then I have in the past, so for me I am hoping ESO or CU is a little more up to speed.
