The Scarlet Blade advertisements make MMORPG.com NSFW

muchavezmuchavez Member UncommonPosts: 199

One of my workplace perks is that we get to browse the net while we work, however the scarlet blade ads make this site NSFW :(

Please remove them?  Or maybe make a NSFW button?

Unfortunately I don't have that kind of perk at work, but I was thinking about these adverts earlier.

The ad I was greeted with stated "It's getting hot in here, so take of all your gear". I mean, really!?

I'm not saying that Aeria shouldn't advertise in this way, each to their own and all that. But I'm just pretty surprised that mmorpg.com would use said adverts. I'm not into it, it doesn't offend me, but I can imagine it could potentially offend a lot of people.

The whole game should be burned imho.

A lot better asian games that haven't seen daylight in west because of crap like this.

I enjoy digital chicks as much as the guy next door, but the game is an awful piece of shit that only sells on soft porn.

However I bet MMORPG does get a hefty lump for advertising, so I suggest you focus more in your work during work hours than scrolling this site.

I surf this website at work a lot and it certainly is borderline NSFW. I would really appreciate it if they took these Scarlet Blade ads down because it is a bit too much.

Edit: To answer the above poster, I work at a large corporate law firm and naked cartoon characters covering my screen is certainly not professional.

i like them, the boobage distracts my boss just long enough to hit alt-F4 before it registers with him im skiving.

Cartoon cleveage is not safe for work? Do they have a stroke if there is an advert with a REAL woman in a bikini?!?
  • eye_meye_m Member UncommonPosts: 3,317
I think they are just fine and I would be more insulted if they were removed.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

    WHO”S REALLY IN CONTROL?

    Or

PVP HAS NEVER BEEN THIS HOT

    Or

    DESIRE CAN BE DANGEROUS

reminded me of Margaret Thatcher, you could see them in some saatchi and saatchi add campaign.

I don't mind one or two adds from time to time, but the constant assault of the Scarlet Blade on this site is just insane LOL.

Trying to convince myselt that it does not bother me... Well, ok it has adverse effect... image

I wish other games were advertised with such intensity.

P.S. I guess money is money... and where is sex there is money...... sigh

I just adblocked them. Problem solved.
  • ToodlesToodles Member UncommonPosts: 121

    the ad's are completely trashy.

    the game is trashy.

I've quit visiting this site quite significantly since they started being spammed every day.

MMORPG.com used to be a good place to get info and such. It's certainly showing how desperate they are for advert $$ these days. I'll just go back to the otehr forums/game informers.

I know sites need sponsors, but sometimes class should override bankroll.

I surf web at work, and when they are there i shrink my browser so i do not see the sides of this webpage. Thus i avoid the half naked women on the sides of the screen.

I am rather amused. The site folks noted  they were going to take care of this ad  issue and now? Well it seems like Scarlet Blade ads are all we see one right after the other. LOL, I guess it was taken care of depending on how you define taken care of.

What is truly sad about this whole conversation is that you people complaining about these ads have no problem with Ultra-Violence in these games, but you see a tit, you freak out. (and these ads aren't even close to nudity).

It's a sad commentary on our culture that violence is perfectly ok, but even simulated sexuality is made into a big deal.  Perhaps you all should take some time out of your day to think about that and let it sink in.

I'd get into the theological and philosophical origins of all this, but I'm sure it would be lost on most of you.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

I have a larger problem with the constant CU advertising going on in the form of concealed forum threads.

My problem isn't the half-nude stuff, it's the way these creepy things look. They aren't beautiful. They are scary like clowns and dolls.

I've played scarlet blade, and I have to say it is a utter piece of shit, all it has going for it is the girls, which with those huge tits, look like freaks of nature insted of attractive. Though I do have to admit, some of the quest dialog between your girl and you(the commander) is a funny read. In the game your bascally a commander that tells her what to do, and she comments on it alot.

I like my T&A as much as any guy does, but the girls in scarlet blade just aren't attractive, they look like plastic dolls with the textures they use, with some huge beachballs slapped on, only one that isin't a total freak of nature is the.. oh what was the class name? dual weild shooter girl, I don't remember what her class was called? but then people complain shes a loli so, ya just can't win.

Though I have to say if I was stuck between choosing scarlet blade or ragnarok online 2 as my only mmo, i'd take scarlet blade because its quite frankly a better game than Ro2 is in my eyes. Ro2 looks better graphical but its combat involves spamming the same 1 skill till mob dies and thats about it.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

I haven't played it, and I have zero plans to play it.  I'm personally commenting on how utterly ridiculous it is to complain about slightly sexual video game girl ads, when violence is perfectly ok.  I wonder what it is about simulated murder and other forms of violence in video games covered on this sitem as well as the associated ads, that makes them perfectly acceptable compared to these (silly) SB ads.

In truth, I'm not wondering... because I already understand the origins of how our culture came to be this way.  Perhaps some of you should start wondering about it and go get some answers.

So.. Your saying because people spend money to go see something like boxing, it should also be fine for people to spend money on a prostitute, right?

Two different things, two different debates.

Aeria games decided to sell sex, but mmorpg.com doesn't have to plaster it all over the site too.
