GW2 was a solo game with an MMO tag, you mine as well play it like Skyrim. The last MMO to trully encourage grouping was Classic Everquest. You can get that feel from project 1999 or epicemu servers which have gotten very close to the classic experience. Short of that i have no suggestions for you from an MMORPG standpoint.
Id like to Bump this just in-case there is something that someone can think of. Be nice to find a new game that encourages grouping like original EQ and doesn't take 2 days to reach max lvl.
If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!
EVE I would say is grouping focused in the sense you need to join a corp (guild equivilent). But EVE is a completely differnt sort of beast when it comes to MMOs. It is a PvP centric game and some refer to it as excel in space. Certainly not for the light hearted n something one cannot just "jump in on."
Final Fantasy XI has nothing but grouping. It is required. It also has the best community you will ever see in an MMO, and is the best story based MMO period.
It was also based off the original EQ.

You can group in any MMO. Are you asking for a game that forces grouping for everything? If so, then look for any game released before 2003. I played WoW and grouped from 1-90 with one or two other people the entire time. Does that count as a grouping MMO? I think it does.
If you want to explore all of its content, DDO is a good fit, even with the abitlity to purchase hirelings. After a certain level and difficulty, you have to group. Find the right people and it can be a really rewarding experience (unless you want to zerg through all of the raids and dungeons). Its a great game albeit lobby based and heavly instanced.
Sarlona server ( which is heavly RP based) has a lot of helpful people and guilds.
Final Fantasy XI is not the type of grouping one wants. It used to be amazing. 5 man groups trying desperately to only pull one mob because if 2 come the party gets wiped. Those were the days. Now its parties of 30 jumping from one level cap to another in mere hours. I played it about 6 months ago and got burnt out on the party play, people join parties and go afk for 6 hours. Not what is used to be.

I agree, but you can still join a grouping LS and group if you want. There's still people around that would rather play it the old way like us rather than join a book burning raid and get to lvl 99 in a few days.
It's still good for grouping up to do the end game content too.

I'd like to say I really miss the old FFXI, but then I remember waiting for over an hour LFG to get an invite, and that was kind of a turnoff for me.

They kinda improved the wait time when they added level sync. The higher level you were the more options you had for groups, but not long after that book burning became the big thing to do.
Though I remember waiting entire days to get groups for my PUP, it was tough.
They have double XP weekends every once in a while now and that gets people grouping out in the world again, I just wish they'd do it more often or make it permenent.
