These factors make this game even in its unperfect, unfinished state the best PvP game out right now. If your into competative high risk PvP and love old school hardcore style games check out DF.. I dare you..
The crafting system is generic. Nothing amazing about it, but crafting is not the reason i want to buy a game anyway.
There's no rush for full loot at all. Nothing is expensive and with the upcoming patch, crafting anything will be a lot cheaper meaning that we won't have to pay 475 to craft the best recipes. Plus, if you're a warrior or skirmisher, it's useless to kill a mage since they have nothing to offer for a warrior. Farming for gold or anything else is useless. If you want gold, you can go fishing with a chance to get a map. You dig and profit.
Sieges are unplayable lol.
You mention all these thing and it makes me wondering if you even play DF UW.
DF UW launch was a success, but it's taking a huge fall to become a failure.
Not really. There's always going to be a huge drop off in FFA PVP MMOs. There's a queue almost every time you log in. There's plenty of players. Average steam users are not gonna stick around after they get dry looted the first time.
Unless Aventurine gets their act together soon... the "success" will quickly evaporate.
Crashes are still happening way too often for a big percentage of players. For some feedback on the topic below are a few threads from the official forums:
So, a person can try and spin it however they want, but those are the hard numbers from Steam. Those are the numbers for the last 4 weekends. Do they reflect how the overall population is doing? That is up for opinion.
I am merely reporting on what can be shown as definitive. Each person will have to decide what they think it means.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
