XL origionally planned on having a full fledged taming of pets. this was scrapped for the current "everyone gets a companion" idea.
I would love for Trion to revisit this and make it so those with the correct skills would be able to tame the wild animals in the game world. would add so much more to the game than simply having everyone running around with a different color wolf.
Taming is there, not sure about the live server, but its present on the test server, you can tame bosses (4-6 of them currently):

Can the people who continue to say this give a bit of an explanation? I'm confused by this and have to assume you haven't even looked at the character models or how in depth the customization tools are. Or you have mistaken AA for other games like TERA.
Edit or you've only seen pictures of the Hariharans who are admittedly asian fantasy influenced and have not seen any of the pictures of the Nuins who look very western.
I dont want this game westernized, we have enough trash as it is on the western market. Do you even know what that would do to this game? Western gamers are lazy and are not creative... they want everything free and easy.... and it ruins mmorpg's.
MMORPG's are all about getting ALL people to play on 1 ! seamsless world.
As long as you add and don't remove you don't violate the MMORPG designe rules and you don't become bad games like the last decade showed which introduced and tainted with single player mentality into MMORPG . PvE only violates this rule.
no.
MMORPG's are all about getting ALL LIKE MINDED people on 1! seamless world.
PvE doens't violate this rule.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
the single player mentality came with the games which let you ''complete'' the whole game alone, purely alone like if it were a console for make it worse avoiding any kind of encounters with enemies (pvp), so in the end they are like a retards doing instance over and over and over and apparently for them that is the competition and end game...trash games.
but the pve doesnt violate anything, its a must in this genre, without it wont be rpg, everything spins around pve, you pvp for pve for pvp just like Lineage 2 used to do, and did it right (thought stupid 2billion mobs for level up jesus christ) but that game did it right, you had from crafters/farmers to pvpers in one single world working together, i remember the rps in giran since i never really use to do that i just used to see only.
the failure in companies which still want to cater to ''console casual mmo players'' which in fact those are the ones which leave in like 2 weeks or 2 months max for play the next console mmo game, those are the ones which dont make the world feel alive, are the ones which dont fill servers and more likely are the ones which whine a lot if they find something they cant do alone, they should stick to consoles/single player stuff.
open world or seamless world for just the sake of being free isnt good too, is boring, you must make use of it, players must feel the world and play around doing everything, have encounters, give them a reason for do the stuff, as well designed for you to do your own stuff in your own pace, so you arent like an idiot in forums asking ''when is the next expansion'', just like EVE does right now, here is the game, do whatever you want (almost) thought iam not fan at all of spaceship stuff.
thought would be cool to have everyone in just one server...but i supose technology isnt that good yet for support that

100% agree mate. Asian character models are heaps good looking. I hope that it stays as it is. From all the videos ive seen on youtube they souldnt do anything to it.
I hope they just translate only, the game is great just how it is, not too hardcore while at the same time far from casual.
Although we already know there will be changes to character customization which also makes sense.
Truth be told I feel there is room for a more hardcore server ruleset in addition to the standard that we see now. I do believe a less hardcore server ruleset will not work and could be game breaking.
How can a seperate server with an alternate ruleset ever be game breaking?
I want to pull out my hair when you guys make these comments. I personally don't want a PVE only server, but at the same time, I see no problem at all if there was such a server. How would it be game breaking if you didn't play on that server? You just remove PvP from the continent and let people build there as well. In fact, a continent with infinite possibilities, where they could design it in any way they deem fit doesn't exactly sound like a bad idea. It could be a huge adventure zone for raid content. It could be for player industry only, It could be a giant race course. I mean, you could literealy go in any direction.
People are just too caught up in insulting others for ideas, not because they are bad, but because it's not the way they want it to be done. And any other way is blasphemous and could never work. Then when you actually put some intelligent thought into it, you realize that it could have the potential to be pretty cool. After all, what is the issue with one out of fifty servers being a little different? You're not going to play on that server, so why should you even care? What, just because you want others to suffer? You are that much of a dick that you can't make one compromise? That's sad.
Don't you understand yet? If the PvEers get their own server it will be much harder to grief them. Only being able to ruin the day of people who actually signed up for a PvP experience takes all the fun out of it.
This game would certainly need a pvp server. [mod edit]
Kinda curious will all the same restrictions such as safezones apply to playermade factions as well.
Well I quite the game some time ago already, due all the changes they kept doing, but still a interesting project to follow. At least it has awesome elements outside the pvp.
There is a risk of a slippery slope here, so I'll go with the 'translate only' voters.
However I do admit that I am bothered by what I consider elements of Asian weirdness in the game, as well as having an absolute loathing for low fantasy. So if the huge weapons, the 8 year old NPC girls striking provocative poses in miniskirts and stiletto heels, the flying of gliders etc. are done away with, I probably wouldn't complain. But if the players actually end up running around a fantasy setting in sports cars and the like, well...that might be so grating that I simply wouldn't play.
Game publishers should focus on what brought players internationally to these games in the first place as their main-points rather than the supposed and assumed only audience that plays these games. Which is interesting to wonder exactly if any survey was done on the diversity and range of players playing video-games which is apparently and sorely unmentioned and missing from the market. As well as fixing already known in-game broken bugs and adding content. Not the opposite which has a trend of happening with almost every newly developed or fresh eastern game now.
How much will ArcheAge be "westernized"/butchered for the quickest sale and majority culture references or details removed? In addition to be generalized to be as cheaply done as other mmo's on the market now. Shame to see any potential good titles from the east get wrecked so easily nowadays and the creativity which these games were made removed. As well as the original developers being unable to express the game fully as intended from its origins. Unfortunately most in part due to generic main-stream expectations done before official publishing and WoW competition.
Is it yet another game title just recline into the sea of all the other titles in an indistinguishable and typical? It will be the day when game companies here finally graduate out of the narrow perspective for gaming and open up to realize the potential of a wider and more international audience instead of the predictable and cubical comfort-zone trend? ArcheAge was 18+ but it'll more than likely be reduced to a PG-13 handling with a pointless M thrown up for blood.
Will ArcheAge be another butchered Korean game with a lovely subscription fee added to it somehow(for who knows how long)? Less is always better in the gaming world for the same price that is.
These what came to my mind now, there are a lot more tho...
Yea like thats going to make ArcheAge any money because there is a big Market for Mortal Online MMOs out there. Mortal Online has what 5000 people at most maybe? Thats going to make you what. A few hundred thousand dollars for a Multimillion Dollar game. What a great business plan that is to loose money by making your market as niche as possible.
Once the PvE crowd realizes its a PvP centric game they will lose their desire to play it anyway. Its probably not going to be big over here either way. So might as well go all in for the PvPers.
Quite the contrary. PvE and backbone Econ players are the ones that stay in games for years. PvP people stay as long as there are 'gud fights' and when it gets a bit boring, they bail. Every title that has come out in the last 5 years saw a surge of l33t PvP scene gamers hype it up as PvP and then drop it like an old news paper.
EVE Online: Takes 6 months to build a Titan. It takes 5 minutes to blow it up. They don't want this game hinging on the attention span of PvP gamers.
I know not many people want any big changes. myself being one of those. I really just want a translation with some minor tweaks.
one thing I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see, however, is trion fleshing out the pet/taming aspect of the game.

is this even a thoought?
what would you like to see? and plz keep it realistic
For me to touch the game at this point, i'd need to see aim to shoot combat and sieges not be instanced. Then i'd be all over it. Until then...Darkfall and maybe Black Desert.

Anyone can tame, just need to craft the net to do so.
