One doesn't need to buy the game to be registered. I have no idea why this is news worthy.

I am registered there and haven't bought the game so their announcement doesn't really mean anything.
I was going to buy it but once i played it in that last beta weekend i decided it's not worth the money because quite frankly the game isn't very good if you are a dedicated PC user, not by any stretch of the imagination.
I play this game every night-(at its current state)-and its fun. and yes its PC. until gearbox creates a borderlands2 mmo-ill still be playin Defiance!
ive bought the season tv pass of Defiance from itunes and enjoy it. its been the only scifi show thats kept my attention span.
Playing the game and watching the show - yes for me. Win and win!
Mother of all hellbugs was awesome to see on the show.
yah was actually nice to see the mother hellbug weve been killin in the arkfalls since launch!-lol was waiting for my ego voice to say 'now shoot the bug n kill it before it goes back in'...
Originally posted by mCalvert And what did they say when you asked them how many of those are paying customers? And how many people are actually active players?
I'm sure the majority of those players aren't paying customers, since there isn't a subscription. A large portion are if you include buying the game.
I'm still having fun playing this game. It has it's bugs, but it still fun.
Edit: You can make anything negative, it just depends on what you focus on. I can win the lottery then make it out to be a horrible thing because now I'll have to pay taxes on that money...I wish I never won the lottery! This is the problem players are having with new games, imho. They only focus on the negatives of any game. "Oh this game is horrible, that one single quest had a typo, the quest text said There when it should've been Their! I quit this game cuz it's so horrible because of that typo" lol
Well the point was MMO devs will never actually tell you how successful they are. Except mayabe EVE that proudly displays the number of people currently logged in.

Well since their goal was probably to get people talking about their game. I'd say it worked twice

Work? LOL. They create the news and you digest it. There's no "you" in it.
I will never support freeloaders, no more subsidized gaming.
