I like a good majority of what Aventurine says... now if there was just a way to make it become reality.

Nothing wrong with dreaming big I suppose:

    "we are planning"

    "we’re looking forward"

    "we are implementing"

    "have been discussing"

"we’ll add it as soon as"

    "more to be added"

    "needs more work"

    "we are adding new ones"

    "we’ve planned additional"

    "we’re working on"

    "just thinking about the possibilities"

    "we envisioned much more"

    "We’re also working on"

    "which will add more"

    "we’re working on"

    "we need to add"

    "planned bigger patches and expansions"

    Sounds exciting!   Doesn't it?

Good thing Aventurine and Tasos has a good history with following through.

Who knows, maybe this time they've finally gotten it all together. image

Unfortunately, that much is true: they have not properly followed through with their propositions in the past.

I guess "Hope for the best, expect the worst" is appropriate here.

Well done on identify AV's vocabulary ...expect  these to be  the most used phrases by Tasos and co. in any "update"...

Demigods have also been planned and been worked on just needed more work but would be added...and now been abandoned  officially with this interview..

Dont expect much of it to become true ...

Also instead of  the player damanded market system of putting clan vendors/ player vedors in player cities AV decides to implement their typical blunt and subpar ideas with "a system of markets that operate through an existing building in each of the racial capital"..think global Auction House..

Blunt, subpar, anti-sandbox way of thinking is the main way of thinking at AV ...

Yeah, I think that is where most people who are fans of the genre (if not DarkFall or Aventurine itself) are at.

Reading through that wish list of everything they want to do, or thinking about, or adding, or implementing... it READS really well.  Too bad they are already in the middle of running, operating, and fixing a full-production MMO (that is currently lacking a lot of that which they had said before was "almost done", or "just putting on the final touches").

I could be wrong... but wasn't that the point of stopping DF1.  So they could concentrate solely on DF:UW, and not be bogged down with all the time it took them to fix bugs, ban cheaters, etc.  Oh well, there is always next time.  3rd time is the charm right?  image

Unfortunately, Aventurine (and Tasos) don't have a real good grasp on what they are capable of actually delivering in a timely manner.

It's almost like Aventurine needs to be the idea people... and then have someone else actually crank it out.  They've always done pretty good with ideas. (Well, minus Fun Hulks!)  It's the quality and the timeliness parts that have left a lot to be desired. image

Yeah, I don't know how anybody currently playing can read that and not think...

"Crap!  They are a long ways off on delivering on most of this stuff."

    So what's new ?

"WF: A common complaint is that Unholy Wars doesn’t have enough additional sandbox features, save perhaps for the contract system. Is there anything more that players can expect in this regard in the foreseeable future?

AT: We believe that the sandbox features it inherits from Darkfall Online are a good start and we are also excited about features and additions we are planning that allow players to generate their own content like contests, tournaments, events etc. The future of Darkfall Unholy Wars is definitely that of a sandbox game, and we’re looking forward to the many great things we have planned for the game. Another element for the evolution of the sandbox nature of the game is our player feedback based on their player experience which has already inspired many additions and changes in the past."

Nothing. This game is not going anywhere.

/ Puts on the "Windfall Hat of Optimism"

So for the last few years they have been concentrating on putting out DFUW.  The while, Darkfall original had been receiving less and less attention.  Which certainly showed towards the end as far as updates/fixes went.  I guess what I'm getting at is now their full attention can be focussed on one game and the results will be apparent in the coming months/years.

    Yay for Aventurine!

    / Takes off hat .....

/ Drops head in shame ....

sigh ...... I know.  Don't even bother responding to this post.

    Don't even hit "Reply"

    I KNOW ......

The vast majority of players who are looking for something a bit different are right there with you.

Even though we may point out flaws and inconsistencies... we (or at least I do) want them to eventually get it right.  It's just disheartening for them to seem like they learned so little from DF1.  image
