Okay, I am so fed up with the idea that "If you are rich, you are successful!"

My dream is (and it will come true ::::20::) to work at Troma. The greatest ****ing film company EVER!!

For those of you that know of Troma, you'll probobly know that i'll be sleeping on the office floor and eating Goldfish crackers for lunch. Also, I won't be making that much money ::::35::

But really, who cares?! I'd rather be poor and making kick-ass Troma flicks then being rich and making another crappy Ben Stiller and Owen Willson movie.

For my Senior Internship (school thing, all seniors have to get an internship for, i think, a month and then come back and speak about it) I am going to try and be an Intern at the Troma building in NY, even though I live in RI (Sleeping in car ::::35:: ........ ::::16:: )

Too me, a job isn't about making money, it's about doing what you have allways wanted to do, and having a kickass time doing it. I probobly could get some higher-paying office job if I wanted too, but i'd probobly blow my head off from hating it so much.

What I don't get is, why the hell would someone want to make themselves miserable just for some extra cash? I'd rather make less while doing something I actually like!

What do you guys think?

    I can see that. But, if you have a family, you need to put them first. If I wasn't married and have children (which I am truely glad I do, they bring much enjoyment to my life), I would probably pack what I need into my mountain pack and just wonder around the country. I would do odd jobs every now and then for some cash, but I would just have fun. I'd have my laptop and go to starbucks or something to surf for free. image

    Yeah if you dont have a family to worry about have fun man. I had this job last year that basicly all I did was play videogames. then come home and play more. I made enough to pay for rent insureance and food and stuff. It was awesome.

    While having fun is cool making money is cool also. Thats why im going to school and get my A+ amongh other things. I love computers, Playing video games on them and fixing thing also.  So this way I can do something I love and make a decent amount of money at the same time.

    I plan on working for a company a few years and then try an make my own shop and build gaming computers and stuff.

    Its awesome that you have so much enthusiasm for directing. I do like alot of Indie films but there are also some really good Big movie films. But i do agree no more owen wilson and ben stiller fims. 

    I hope you have fun with the internship which im sure you will.

    Well that may be hard to find a place in Cali to stay at if you work there ::::35::

    I'm fortunate enough to have a grandma that has an apartment, in a great neighborhood, which I can stay at while im am intern there. ::::20::

    Actually, I've experienced this first hand. I was making a comfortable salary at a comfortable job, enjoying life... I then left that job for a $20k increase at a job I hated. .. It made me miserable all around.. my wife hated me having the job too... the extra money was nice, but everything else suffered for it...

    So, it's tough balance really.. you need to find a job that makes you happy.. not necessarily happy only at work either...

    Well Surf Nazi's sounds like a gay flick, just because of the name... On the other hand I would rather have a high paying job that I don't like, then working at a shittier job for half the salary... Why? Because my family is important to me, and when I get home I would actually like to order 2 xtra large pizzas from Pizza Hut or whatever, instead of buying the frozen stuff you have to cook... And another thing, I like to play games and at a shitty job I probably wont be able to afford rent and eat for a month, nevermind playing video games after I get home... Hey and I like to crack open a few beers after work too, but if im poor I can't... So pretty much I'd rather have my high paying office job then a low paying fun job imho...

    Life is a little stress ful now that I have this job, but the extra money is nice, and being able to enjoy myself with my wife is the best stress reliever...

    give me less money i want to have fun hahahaha. as long as i can keep a home, and play mmorpg games and have food in the house i will be good to go for life hahaha.

    Would you rather wake up to "Ugghh..... work! I HATE my job, I can't wait for this day to END!" or "Holy crap, I get to make a kick-ass movie today! I can't wait to go to work!!"

    Would you rather eat plain slices of bread for dinner, or a meal in a 5 star restaurant?

    Would you rather drive a car from the 80's, or a brand new Porsche?

    Would you rather live in a house that's almost gonna break apart, or in a mansion?

    Would you rather have to plan out how to spend your money, and have to skip some meals because you don't have enough money, or able to spend as much money as you want, and don't need to think about having issues with money?

    Would you rather wear some torn-apart clothes, or very popular, and clean clothes?

    Would you rather worry about your bills, or not?


    Last but not least, what I'm trying to say is:

    Would you rather have a kick-ass job, earn very little salary, and live a dirt-poor life, or have a super boring job, lots of money, and having the hope to making your own company some day when you save up enough money?

    You can go with the kick ass job with very little money, but I'm sure as hell going with the boring job with a kick ass life and future.

    I'll just stick with a kick-ass job, lots of money, and the hope of owning my own company some day. And oh yeah, my own island nation while I'm at it.

    I guess that's all well and good - if you have a choice between the two. You think you might but just wait til life does what it always does and kicks you in the rocks when you make plans. Guess it's the only way it can keep us proletariat from getting all uppity ::::02::

    Haha only kidding, seriously - just marry a rich woman and sit on your ass...
