As long as we get a few sandbox games that are more about building sandcastles than they are about kicking sand in other players' faces, I'll be happy.
Couldn't be more on your side even if I thought of this myself!
Put together the little that is known of Titan like the facts that they will have a dual life plus that housing will be in games with vendors.
Then take the fact that EQ2 and WOW are both themepark and designed the same way in 2004 its not hard to image or figure out that Blizzard and SOE are going to be releasing the same type of MMO as they did before in 2004. Just think about it. They know that Themepark will not work.
Lol, im sorry, but that is wishfull thinking at its finest....literally nothing released or rumared thus far implies it will be a sandbox, or even close to one.
BTW, the only "housing" they even mentioned is "guild" housing, which also does not indicate sandbox in the least.....Rift has player housing, and is by no means a related to a sandbox.

Blizzard's legacy has been built off of their ability to copy other games, and polish the crap out of them. Thanks to WoW, they've essentially killed most of their pool to steal from. I don't think we're really going to see much original from WoW on the MMO front (which is what the genre needs). Heck, look at their last major announcement. People got all stoked for a new IP, and what they got was a Magic: The Gathering knock off centered around WoW.
You sir just made my night, glad im not the only one that just sees blizz coping other games before hand, yet to see somthing original from them. Atleast other companies out there like SoE are trying new things which is why ill play any of there games before blizzards.

Thats why I am betting Titan will take a lot of EQNext's ideas and do them in their own way. Thats exactly what happened in 2004 with EQ2 and WoW. Its not hard to figure out they will do what other MMO games are doing just better. What is the MMO genera doing now? SandboxHybrid Sandbox Themepark mmo. What will Blizzard do, copy them and do it better than the rest. Its hard to see them copying themselves.
There one thing different between WoW release and EQ next release. SoE is keeping alot of there ingo this time round a secret until the game is closer to release when they were doiing EQ2 on the other hand there were relativly open about what they were doing.
Does no one else realise that having seven sandbox MMO's coming out in the same year is not a good thing? If any new MMO is to procure and maintain a player base, having six competitors in your genre does not help.
The "best" will not win unless it is a totally clear winner, which last happened with WoW. So we will be left with sandbox players diluted between these MMOs. None will be a success and sandbox MMOs will then be labeled as "Fail".

argument 1: themeparks are still there after more than 6 failures.
agument 2: may the best man win. being a sandbox isn't enough. being a good sandbox is.
argument 3: the sanbox-fantasy market still awaits its first 3d good mmo. room for a sandbox wow exists.
argument 4: sandbox MMOs will labeled as fail if they're fail. I have no problem there.
argument 5: I'd rather have players argue which sandbox is best than argue which sandbox is worst.
argument 6: if all 7 fail...back to eve we go.
I'm on board with that. Let them compete and let the creme rise to the top. That way we may just have another awesome sandbox to play besides eve online, as opposed to a sandbox that sucks and is barely surviving because of lack of competition.
