Agree this review seems a bit off. Haven't played DFUW but DF1, while a fun pvp game, was too much pvp all the time. The rest of the game was very basic. It was better than Shadowbane at least, but not sure you can be proud of being better than a 12 or 15 year old game or something.

Originally posted by Ozmodan Good review. I do not like how they implemented melee combat. If you jump or turn to sprint that should immediately drop your defense rating to zero. A hopper should be a very easy target, they can't move to avoid an attack.
There is no defence rating. You can't miss an attack aslong as you hit his body. There is only armor in this game, the rest is up to you.
Good review imo, captures what the game is about, and the scores seem fine in comparison to what other MMOs get on MMORPG.com. I hope the recent weeks DDOS attack didn't affect your view on the stability on the game though since 1 month from now people will still be reading this review.
I am sorry but DF:UW does not deserve anything more than a 6.. AV took a good game Darkfall, that needed a bit of tweaking to make it awesome, but instead gave a dumbed down version of Darkfall with half the features missing.
And this really?
Longevity - 8/10
How.. in the original game there was a reason to siege player holdings, or even just randomly attack them. People would be busy crafting in them and doing other daily tasks so the PVP could be rewarding.. Now there is no reason at all not to stay in the safe zone if you want to craft and also you may as well stay in the safe zones to gather resources as well. This has made owning a city pointless.. half of the clan i was in have not re-subbed or have only re-subbed one of the accounts they had as most had multiple accounts. The game is just no where near as fun as the original and thats before you even start getting into the disgusting UI or the combat issues.
I also see people asking for PVE servers... really just really.. I have no words
A great number of these comments make me want to hire a private detective to find the people who wrote them, beat them to near death, and take their computes away.
I came here to find out if this was a game I would be interested in trying, but I find a flame-fest so convoluted that I can't figure out anything whatsoever. All I want to do is play a game where I can wander into the wilderness and kill other players whenever the hell I want.
In order to work out the frustration I'm feeling, I'm going to write a review of Xandramas, the poster above me, who wrote a wonderfully articulate comment that deserves recognition.
AESTHETICS 4/10
Xandramas has an abrupt writing style, proving that s/he does not care about pronouns. S/he could use some extra instruction on punctuation. However, enough words are spelled correctly to raise the score.
GAMEPLAY 4/10
Xandramas is neither good nor bad at playing games. S/he is firmly placed in the middle of the road in terms of skill. However, apparent anger issues are likely to frustrate everyone involved with Xandramus, including Xandramus.
INNOVATION 1/10
People like Xandramus have been on the Internet since a man named Kevin Leeds figured out how to draw penises in ASCII.
POLISH 3/10
Xandramas' opinion seems to be based on the opinion of other posters. Either that, or s/he sees vaginas everywhere.
SOCIAL 1/10
On May 28th, 2013 at precisely 9:16 PM, Xandramas had nothing better to do than post that comment. Similar postings likely continued into the night. In addition, anger issues once again cause frustration in everyone around Xandramas, including Xandramas.
LONGEVITY 2/10
Xandramas' behavior paints a portrait of someone who is unlikely to succeed in the long-term.
VALUE 2/10
Xandramas' value seems to only matter to me, but I've given a score of two in the hope that at least one other person among seven billion humans on earth gives a shit.
FINAL VERDICT
As you can see from the above scoring, Xandramas needs a lot of work before s/he becomes stable. However, Xandramas' Arena Combat system is so amazing that it balances everything out. 8/10
Internet anonymity works both ways. I could be your mother.

You should check out Darkfall. If you play on North America, I will be happy to help you out ingame. Just send me a private msg on this forum, and I'll be happy to help.
Sid - Why didnt you address the use of speedhack that is all over the place? Warriors running arround you with the speed of lightning to get those crits in your back. They usually turn on their speedhack when they is surpriced farming in PvE spots. Speedhack users is in the game and they arent as few as you claim, and speedhack can be turned on gradually so it isnt that obvious your using it but still give you that upper hand.
Shooting 3 arrows in 1-2 sec isnt possible with game mechanics. And didnt you see the 350 damage from 1 arrow a deathpig cowboy managed to do? Easy to have 150K prowess points then isnt it? Rest of the playerbase have half in PP.
Time you remove your fanboy glasses and see the game for what it is.
Aragon... son of Arathon?
Don't be ridiculous! hahaha
The skill the warriors are using is called stampede and its not a hack. The being hit by 3 arrows instantly is probably coming from 3 different people.
Time to remove my glasses? Time to remove your blindfold.
Deathpig Cowboy? I have been playing this game all day every day for a month and have no idea what you are talking about. Nobody has ever dealt 350 damage... lol remove a zero...? There is a damage cap at around 77.
I haven't seen a single hack yet and I play A LOT. It sounds like you listen to some tall tales... do you ever watch Ancient Aliens?

HEY HEY! Ancient Aliens is a very open minding show, well the first 1-3 episode. :P
Ok, I had some fun playing this game, joined a decent guild, and (very) slowly gained prowess. PVP was pretty fun, but in the end, it's still too much of a grind for me. Primalist was totally wimpy when it came to leveling up on the PVE stuff.
Yes there are cheaters, and plenty of them. I've witnessed some firsthand, heard tell of many others. Yes there are (or were, at least) plenty of bugs. I suffered more server dcs in this game than in any I've played in years.
Now, this isn't to say that it's a bad game. It can be quite fun, but I don't think it deserved a 7.6 rating. I would say it merits something between 6 and 7.
I'm just waiting for a F2P overhyped sandbox WoW clone with full PVP, epic raid bosses, instanced group content, and Crysis-quality graphics to come out. That, or something fun.
The few developers who are still left in Aventurine have pretty much stopped communicating with the Western playerbase whilst they focus on their contractual obligations in respect of the Asian launch.
Both the EU1 and NA1 servers are borderline empty as well, with no sense from Aventurine as to when matters are likely to improve, if ever.
I'm not happy with this review. Why? Because it was positive enough for me to go and purchase the game. To be clear, the servers are deAd, the Polish is non existent, the mechanics are soooooooo unintuitive and stiff. I'm going to give it more time because I spent 40 god damn dollars but I regret my decision. Thanks for the recommendation you shmuck.

Always hating on instances in MMOs! Open worlds, open PvP, territory control and housing please. More persistence, more fun.
