Played WOW 3 months after it came out. I had a lot of fun, ran 40 man raids, was one of the top pvp'rs on my server when WZ's were introduced ( I was grand marshal or marshall I think). When BC came out it ruined everything I did and accomplished. I quit after 1 month into BC and have never looked back.

I've played a lot of MMO's holding for long bits of time on Eve Online, WAR, AOC, World of Tanks, Rifts, and now SWTOR since beta.

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes

I played beta thru vanilla, left when Blizz decided raids were more important that world pvp. Currently shooting it up in Planetside 2.

    Waiting for World of Darkness.....

Was There for release. Even got a hold (on) of the 'pre release' (Just a small portion) of the game that was floating around before the official release date. For those that were waiting for WOW, you know what I'm talking about.

    Played Vanilla. (There for release)

Got burned out so skipped TBC.

Came back for WOTLK, got bored and quit for good.

    ________________________________________________________________________________________

MMORPG's that I tried (That were even worth trying since leaving WOW).

    GW2.

    SWTOR.

Just those two. I was actually not interested in SWTOR based off what I knew before released, but its SW! How could I not at least give Star Wars a try. Guild Wars 2 I was also skeptical towards, but it at least was somewhat well represented and F2P. Out of every MMORPG released since WOW, I would say GW2 was the best (That's not saying much BTW).

Right now, I'm playing nothing. The games on the horizon look like garbage. Go to the main page and look at the top 5 on that list. They are garbage, recreations of the huge success that is WOW. Nothing more, nothing less. If any of those games charge a sub and people pay it, I will be amazed. AMAZED!

I'll log into maybe 3 on that list, but I already know exactly what they are, how they play and exactly how to go about it.

That my friends, is truly, truly, sad......

About to turn 27. Played WoW religiously from release date until late Wrath.

MMO wise, I don't really do much other than check a few blogs and this website every once in awhile. Last MMO I purchased and played was GW2 and I didn't last more than a week. I am much more interested in single player games these days.

The weird thing is, MMORPG is still my favorite genre. I just feel like the genre is lagging behind the wants and needs of the community. Stagnation and an overcrowding of poorly made and copycat games is really taking its toll on the genre.

I think you need to expand your horizon and look at MMO-like games, instead of just traditional MMOs. i found many fun games like star conflict, and warframe.

hey man im 34 and i was there at the beginning and before that and still going on and waiting some new meat to eat.

dont give up and hey, we should just stop comparing new games to old ones. just need to move on and take everything that comes to you with open mind and if its enjoyable then hey, good for you.

Ah brings back the memories. I spent a lot of time in Blackrock Mountain. Finally unsubbed 2 years ago, played LOTRO, TSW and now Rift, where I spend my time playing in a sandbox called Dimensions.

Been playing since release and still playing, raiding 10-mans as a pally tank.

I'm happy with the way the game has evolved over time, and I'm not likely to stop playing anytime soon. Not actively looking for a new MMO, but I do like to keep up to date on what's happening in the industry and what new games are coming out.

I was pretty interested in Wildstar for awhile, but the idea of 40-man raids at endgame killed it for me. I like being able to see all of the endgame raid content in a small, skilled group.

    GW

    then wow again

Then  I tried all the "new" mmo out there but nothing is like when I started wow..when the new feeling wares off I leave again..

Now I am 40 years old and still seaching for the next big mmo but dont think I will ever get the feeling as when I started playing wow vanilla..

Now I play GW2 and Neverwinter online and will go back to RIft when it goes F2P in June..

Rift was my big 'replacement' least for the raiding aspect since they killed raiding off quite good in the game. Not really playing that now though, mostly just wandering, playing random games of all sorts. If I got raid urges, Rift is pretty much where I go, blizzard killed off any desire to play wow ever again.
  • Currently not playing MMOs. I'm a little disappointed with many MMOs I've tried since often they feel like they'er WoW - a game I already played to death.

I'm eagerly awaiting Camelot Unchained and Star Citizen (more of a hybrid MMO, I know, but it's a SPACE SIM damnit). TESO I was excited for at first but that excitement has lessened. Might try it out.

I seem to be getting more into regular single player / coop games, especially indie old school ones. Legend of Grimrock, FTL and hopefully upcoming Hammerwatch, Shadowrun Returns and Xenonauts (loved the Firaxis XCOM, too). That sort of stuff.

i dont remember the last time i played an mmo. been a longgggggg time now. i cant bring myself to really get into them anymore since they've changed so much. mmos are now about trying to suck the last penny out of you through various schemes aka pay 2 win models. even the subscription mmos all have cash shops in them now. i find multiplayer games with co op to be much more better then mmos now. lots of people claim mmos are dying blah blah blah, not true. mmos however have seen their golden age come and gone. kinda feel sorry for the people who joined the mmo community after the mid 2000s, missed out on the best days.

the internet in general has turned to shit compared to the early 90s. back then, the internet was created for information sharing and used for porn. today the internet is all about people trying to sell you shit everywhere you click and people telling you on their status what they ate for lunch. as if anyone really cares.

Playing through random FTP garbage and tossing them to the side like used underwear, NW being the latest victim.

WOW was the only mmo I have played extensively (I was addicted to vanilla for six months or so), every mmo since  I just treat as a way to waste a few hours over an evening if there is nothing on tv, much like single-player games.  I am quite glad for that in many ways (I would not want to return to my wow addiction).

The first love being the greatest argument is true, but with wow it was the same for so many players that the initial community was great fun.

Quit WoW in the beginning of wotlk simply because it was garbage.

I have been playing Age of Conan, GW2, Tera and right now I'm thinking about trying Aion while waiting for Elder Scrolls online.

Did not start MMOing with WoW, started with UO.

But eventually got in to WoW as well, after SWG-NGE (it was the reason I went to WoW), and played Vanilla and enjoyed it much, especially the PvP aspect of it (always my favorite), then with BC things started going downhill for PvP and I lasted untill WoTLK...

Now playing World of Tanks and Shores of Hazeron...

part of it is, imagine if your first love was the sexiest person you have ever met (and a good cook to boot).

I've been making forays back into Lord of the Rings Online, forgot how awesome the scenery and the environment actually looks.

Once you cleanse yourself from the gear treadmill you actually start enjoying some games.

I left a few months before BC, the constant combat updates were really annoying playing as a warrior. Came back recently for a few months and enjoyed it for what it was. Now I dabble in a few MMOs on occasion, but have really gotten back into console gaming for the most part. MMOs seem to have such short term communities lately with a solo mindset even when in a guild which just kills it for me.

Friends/supergroup-mates from City of Heroes convinced me to join WoW a few months after it launched.  WoW was my only MMO from Vanilla through Cata.

Had lots of fun over the years, especially in raiding, but was pretty much burnt out by spring 2012; when my guild collapsed and many of my friends scattered to different servers (we were almost the last 25 man-raiding guild on our server), I took it as a sign to take a break...and never went back  Tried Rift, Eve, Champions Online...but was mostly just waiting for GW2.

Unfortunately GW2 didn'r work out for me, so now just puttering around until Wildstar or TESO come out (although considering trying Eve again atm).
