From the massively thread,
Apparently some have pointed out STO had this same bug months ago , and yet the Cryptic programmers let it happen in NW also ?
Seriously , someone defend this , someone excuse this , someone tell me how in any way this doesn't make NW not up to any even reasonable standards ?
Comments
Hahahaha !
Now why does that screenie look so familiar ?
Obviously, someone at Cryptic "forgot" about that minor bug when they re-used the code from STO to reskin it for NWO....
It is a harsh world with all the looters out to loot money be it astral diamonds in-game or be it real life money.
Shame Shame Shame !!!

Mainly 72 hour bans, they had trouble removing the duped money and the economy took a LONG time to recover.
Those are credits... dilithium is what's used to trade for zen... if dilithium wasn't affected by this dupe then...yeah... explains it.
Correction, IT"S CALLED BETA. since they are selling services it is subject to consumer review not tester review
Thanks for the quick reply. Makes me wish for a complete and total wipe even more tbh. With zen used that was bought wth real money reimbursed of course.
This....for all the people that think they are playing the Live game, would be a blast if the devs whipe the character database after this......the rage!
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
So the exploit in STO was about a form of currency not related to real money in any way? Not counting gold sellers ofc.
I think there is rage already and no matter the route they choose will cause more rage. So the amount of rage should not be a part of the decision making.
NOT ....WHEN THEY OPEN ......THE CASH SHOP FOR BUSINESSSSSSSSSSSSS IT'S NOTTTTTTT
It's as much a BETA Testing Phase as I am a Alien from Jupiter.
Correct! You can call it "beta", but if you are allowing purchases of real money for in game items then we are not testers anymore... we are consumers!
Double down and try to piss them all off!

This ^.
They can call it whatever they want. The fact of the matter is they're engaging in business transactions. People are spending real money, and being screwed out of it through negligence.
They can call it whatever they want to.
I being a player in this mmo industry for so many years will just call it a shameful part of the industry.
This should not be continued by any company.
This is sheer malpractice for a service provider.

And if you have a single shred of common sense (rare these days, I know) in your mind, you'll realize that 'Open Beta' in the case of this (and many other games) is simply a marketing term, nothing more. If there is no danger of character / item wipes, and the cash shop is open for business, then (now say it with me) THIS... IS... RELEASE!!!
I can call a duck a squid, but that doesn't make it true. Unless I have some form of transmogrification ray...
It's a sad day indeed when a family is too afraid of reprisals to publicly thank somebody for saving their lives.
It absolutely is.
They'll try and convince people that it's not, and most people don't want to go through the trouble of a legal battle of an online transaction, but it's definitely illegal to sell someone a product under false pretenses, to sell someone a product & then delete it, or to sell someone a product and take that product away (without just cause). Even when that product is a server (i.e. a video game), if it's being sold to you, they can't just say 'thanks for the money, but u can't play anymore'.
If you're down 5$, then ya it's not really worth battling, but if you've spent 100s of dollar and lost it due to this company's incompetence, if they don't give that back, it'd might not be a bad idea to talk to a lawyer. Just be prepared for the possibility of losing.
see problem here is that they sold you the game not the server, otherwise i have a few companies who closed down thier game servers that i would like to form a mass lawsuit aginst
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.
I don't see the grounds for a lawsuit, can you explain? The game launched (yes in my opinion it is launched), yet called it open beta. Just by calling it that you know what you are getting in to. You know you will start playing an unfinished product, you know you will (if you do) spend money on an unfinished product. You know beforehand that the product will be flawed simply because they refuse to call it an official launch and use the transparent "open beta" claim.
I am not american, I don't live in a lawsuit nation, so maybe that is why I can't see the grounds for a lawsuit based on your own mistakes made.
Please enlighten me.
The danger here for PWE/Cryptic isn't lawsuits, it's the PR/marketing disaster this has an excellent chance of becoming. PWE/Cryptic's brand didn't exactly have a stellar reputation going in to this mess
I've yet to see the PWE can do no wrong crew spin this one. They just duck it.
I can't believe some people come with the "it's beta" excuse lol.
I hope it was sarcasm that I didn't spot...
